The piece de resistance of our stay at the Banyan Tree Lang Co Resort , one of the best resorts in Vietnam, was the private infinity pool that ran the length of our hillside villa and overlooked the East Vietnam Sea.
It was love at first sight and the moment is unforgettable. We arrived at our villa by buggy and the pool was right in front of us as we entered, with the dramatic coastline of Lang Co stretched out before us for dozens of kilometers in the distance.
Seeing this instantly put us into vacation mode. Before we’d even unpacked, we’d put on some music and jumped right in, soaking up the surreal combination of beauty, nature, and luxury. If paradise was an award-winning resort in Vietnam, this was certainly a major contender.

We were hypnotized by this magical place in its entirety. It’s a wellness and relaxation destination in Vietnam in itself. So our stay was a seamless experience of gourmet dining, spa treatments, yoga sessions, and quality time on this private terrace with a pool that we could barely tear ourselves away from.

“I could live here,” my companion said, as we sat on the terrace with Vietnamese cocktails. The villa was extremely comfortable after all. It opened up to a spacious living room and dining room that then extended towards the terrace and the infinity pool.

On both sides of the public areas, tasteful bedrooms with bathrooms also looked out onto the sea. When I wasn’t outside, I sat on the living room sofa with a book in hand. But I rarely glanced at my book anyway, because my eyes always wandered towards the views outside.

The resort is near the cities of Hue and Hoi An, as well as the My Son Ruins – all UNESCO World Heritage sites. It is also near the remotely beautiful Bach Ma National Park. But these are all easy to forget about once you check in.
WHERE TO GO FOR A HOLIDAY IN VIETNAM
Every morning, we attended the complimentary morning yoga session for guests. This was the perfect primer for the long breakfasts we indulged in with gusto.
After all, Banyan Tree resorts the world over are famous for their breakfasts. We began with detox juices and cereals. Then we proceeded to cooked-to-order eggs and then eventually we worked our way to a finale of Vietnamese specialties, including the ubiquitous pho. Pho is the traditional Vietnamese noodle soup.
We spent the rest of the day at leisure, as befitting a holiday in one of the best resorts in Vietnam. Our villa and its infinity pool always beckoned us back. But whenever we decided to venture out, we quickly discovered dozens of activities to fill our time.
We loved the Banyan Tree spa, as the therapists are renowned for their massage skills. Guests can enjoy treatments in private villas a short walk from the water. So part of the fun involved choosing a spa treatment to book every day. And, as they say, a massage a day keeps the doctors away.
