We’d been hearing about the Marina Bay Spa and Lifestyle Club for some time now. It’s where certain low-key but extremely well-heeled ladies like to spend the afternoons, indulging in wellness treatments and the famous ganban’yoku hot stone spa followed by pedicures and rounds of mahjong.
Members of this exclusive club have access to a wide range of facilities including contrast therapy baths for vitality, and both dry and wet saunas for detoxification. Of course, the ganban’yoku hot stone spa is one of the most popular facilities.
I was especially interested in the slimming massage and a chakra balancing massage which brings guests to a deep state of relaxation via a blend of essential oils and chakra stones. There was also a special massage using bamboo.
But the slimming massage was the priority since this kind of massage is so hard to find in other spas.
“Does the slimming massage really work?” I asked Annalyn, the spa’s trainer and hands down the best therapist in the spa. She replied: “If you do the slimming massage treatments on a regular basis, combined with proper diet and exercise, you will see results after several months. It helps to avoid cellulite.”
UNIQUE SPA TREATMENTS
I booked for a series of slimming treatments right there and then. But that afternoon, I decided to go for the Marina Bay Spa treatment which is an original treatment that combines Swedish massage, shiatsu and other styles. It allows the therapist to intuitively use different techniques for complete rejuvenation.
Afterwards we went to the spacious rooftop area to relax. It has a transparent swimming pool and unparalleled views of Manila Bay. This was the best view of Manila Bay that I had ever seen. “Wow,” I said, “this must be the best party place in Manila.”
Although anyone can sign up for treatments by buying a pass for the day, regular visitors are encouraged to join the club.
Membership at the Marina Bay Spa and Lifestyle Club provides full access to all facilities. These include the gaming lounge, the KTV rooms, and the conference rooms. Members also receive discounts at the spa.
