Cheers to a wonderful #Travelife to Morocco with 35 friends…
Yesterday, in Manila living a #Travelife, someone invited me for a nice birthday lunch. It’s not yet my birthday, but I’m leaving for Africa tomorrow and celebrating my real birthday in Marrakech with two very nice dinners.
One dinner will be with my 35 friends flying in from all over the world over the next few days to join me for an epic #Travelife to Morocco. I’ve chosen the one night when everyone will be present for this dinner, and it will be at one of my favourite restaurants in Marrakech.
THE BEST RESTAURANT IN MOROCCO
FOR MY REAL BIRTHDAY
I have three very favourite restaurants out of about 12 favourites in Marrakech, and one of them has been booked for my real birthday after everyone else has left by Mr. Y, who is dropping his incredibly busy schedule temporarily and flying into Marrakech from halfway across the world to join me and my friends in Morocco for my birthday week.
This is not the fanciest, as I have already been there, but it’s certainly quite a chic gastronomic place that’s considered Morocco’s best although the food is more about inventive cuisine.
A GEM OF A DISCOVERY
IN MARRAKECH TO START OFF A HOLIDAY
My other top favourite one is a tiny restaurant I last had dinner in last November with a wonderful group of Travelife readers and friends. It’s contemporary and so cozy, but all of us loved for the ambience and the original cooking by a talented chef and a very enthusiastic owner.
I decided to book a quiet dinner here with someone, on the evening before my friends begin landing in Casablanca.

This restaurant made me feel so comfortable when I was last here, although it is not fancy.
And last November, as I took a walk on a beautiful autumn morning by the swimming pool in Amanjena with the resident manager of the Amanjena, I even recommended this restaurant to him as he asked me for new ideas in the Marrakech food scene.
THE RESTAURANT EVERYONE NEEDS TO SEE
The third restaurant is perhaps the fanciest and the most traditional. It’s a showstopper of a place with jewelled walls and gold furnishings that make you feel you’re in a palace. I think everyone should come to this restaurant at least once because it’s nice to see Morocco this way, and the food is incredible.
Again, everyone I took here last November left raving about it.
BIRTHDAY DINNER #1
So I’m using this place for my birthday dinner with 35 friends and I’ve decided to make it very special in so many way, as it’s not really very often that one is able to gather so many friends in one truly exotic place — unless you’re Travelife, that is.
And the dress code for this dinner is Moroccan fancy dress, which was the idea of the girls of the core group. We always do this, taking the local attire when we go for one dinner, and it’s great fun.
Then before I know it, I’ll be in Tokyo for another round of birthday dinners.
What an excellent way to start off a very special year of travel, adventure, and good friends all over the world, living a never-ending #Travelife.
