Everyone talks about a room with a view, and I’ve stayed in many quite amazing places myself, with beautiful views, all over the world, living a #Travelife.
But even in a pretty amazing Travelife, this suite I just stayed in at the Park Bosphorus Hotel in Istanbul has got to rank in the top 5 of my list of hotel rooms with a view. It certainly has the best view out of any hotel I’ve stayed in a lifetime of visiting Istanbul so far.

EVERYONE’S FAVORITE HOTEL ROOM
Interestingly, I checked into the Park Bosphorus Hotel at about 7 AM, straight from a Turkish Airlines (THY) flight that landed from Asia at Ataturk International Airport.
Mr. Efecan Alici, the assistant front office manager, personally escorted me to my suite, which was the hotel’s special terrace suite.
As we went up the elevator, he said to me: “This is my favourite room in the hotel.“
Then, on my floor, my personal butler, Kaan, was waiting for me. He, too, said to me: “This is my favourite room in the hotel.“
I thought they were just trying to be extra nice and to make me feel good as I’d booked a suite room but this certainly wasn’t the presidential suite, so even I could imagine there were at least one or two better suites than mine in this hotel.
THAT WOW MOMENT
But then I walked into my suite.
I’ve stayed in some of the loveliest places in the world, and only last month at a private villa at the Selman Marrakech, where Tom Cruise had stayed in while filming Mission Impossible 5 in Marrakech.
THE BEST SUITES IN THE WORLD
The private villa of the Hotel Selman
Then I’ve also recently stayed in the presidential suites of the Hyatt in Thessaloniki, the Selati Lodge of Sabi-Sabi,La Residence in Franschhoek, and a couple of other beautiful hotels.
Plus, of course, a beautiful suite at the Aman Tokyo, the Cafe Royal in London, and the Relais & Chateux property of Gora Kadan in Hakone, the Four Seasons Serengeti in Tanzania and one of the best villas at the ultra-exclusive Royal Mansour in Marrakech, among others.
But I was certainly speechless with this terrace suite of the Park Bosphorus Instanbul.
IT’S NOT ABOUT THE SIZE
It’s not very big compared to a lot of luxury hotel suites.
And speaking of size, the Park Bosphorus Hotel, which is a member of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts, currently has the largest presidential suite in Istanbul, at about 800 square meters, if I heard correctly.
The presidential suite is lovely but my terrace suite has way nicer views and much larger windows because of the security issues connected with a presidential suite.
My terrace suite, of course, didn’t come close to this presidential suite in terms of size. But it was big enough, with a spacious foyer and an elongated layout with no corners, so you had a view from everywhere.
And the bathroom was massive. The jacuzzi could fit four people easily, while the separate shower had its own Turkish hammam outlet. And it had a gold-plated sink.
THE BEST VIEW IN ISTANBUL
But it was really the view that got me.
I’d never ever seen a hotel suite in Istanbul with a view like this from an open-air terrace. If you’re big on views — and Istanbul sure is the city to head for, in this case — then you shouldn’t look any further than the terrace suite I got at the Park Bosphorus Hotel.
Just make sure to book well in advance, as this suite is very popular.
The terrace suite has got the longest terrace in the hotel, and from this terrace you basically have a 180-degree view of Istanbul, from the bridge that takes you over to the Asian side, the whole stretch of the Bosphorus, and the Old City on the other side.
And just my luck — I swear, I’m one of the luckiest people in the world — the day I checked in happened to be among the most beautiful autumn days in Istanbul this year.
It was warm but not hot, and the sun shone so beautifully on the city that I opened my terrace doors wide and sat in one of the lounge chairs practically the whole morning, at the Park Bosphorus Hotel in Istanbul, living and loving a never-ending #Travelife.
