The memory of an elephant, the heart of a lion, and the charm of a snake

So, back at home, living a Travelife, the Travel Companion and I have been exchanging messages a lot over the past few days as he slowly made his way through multiple airports, three continents, and one airline with lousy inflight service, to get home from a long trip.

Lousy airline,” he lost no time in telling me, as soon as he got off one long haul flight on XX airline.

Then, when he got on another much better airline, for the second leg of the journey, he messaged: “What a relief.

Meanwhile, I was recovering too from my four weeks away on a never-ending Travelife — a trip that took me halfway around the world.

And then some.

WHAT WASN’T TALKED ABOUT

Interestingly, although we talked about a hundred different things perhaps, what we didn’t talk about in the last few days was our upcoming trip to an exotic destination.

I guess this is because it’s now up to me to plan the itinerary — and I’m still in the middle of doing it — after we’d decided on the country to visit, the dates and the flights.

THE MEMORY OF AN ELEPHANT

And yesterday, he reminded me about something I’d mentioned to him in passing a lifetime ago.

So in reply, I messaged him: “You have the memory of an elephant.

He really does. Although only for things he wants to remember.

And you can’t imagine how good he is, when it suits him, at pretending he doesn’t have any idea of what I’m talking about.

THE HEART OF A LION
AND THE CHARM OF A SNAKE

Never skipping a beat, he was quick to remind me: “And the heart of a lion.

And here, I just couldn’t resist sending him the following message: “And the charm of a snake.

I’d been teasing him recently about his over-extended charm, you see.

Fortunately, he’s a good sport. So he replied: “Got me there.

I certainly did.

A NEW TAG LINE

“That’s your new favorite line for me?” He then asked today, after I’d repeatedly used “the charm of a snake” line on him.

I replied: “Nope. But it’s going to make it to the blog.”

And with that, another day passed quickly in my never-ending, and never-endingly eventful Travelife.
