At the Four Seasons Bosphorus in Istanbul this week, living a #Travelife…
In Turkey for a week, living a #Travelife, I avoided the typical tourist sightseeing route and spent my days living a Travelife.
This meant late and long breakfasts, usually in beautiful restaurants with lots of healthy food, and enough time to answer emails pouring in from Asia at the end of the workday in that part of the world.
Plus, also having enough time to read the newspapers. And I don’t mean reading on my iPad, but reading actual old-fashioned newspapers.

LUNCH WITH FRIENDS IN ISTANBUL,
LIVING A #TRAVELIFE
Then, I was usually ready to go out by lunch, so I joined some friends or the Travelife Magazine team for a meal somewhere in this beautiful city.
Or if I didn’t feel like eating, I would just pick a neighbourhood to walk around in and go from there on my own till dinner. It was actually nice to have a few hours of alone time in a #Travelife almost always surrounded by people, especially as I actually have a very big need for privacy.

VISITING THE ISTANBUL MODERN
One day, I went to the Istanbul Modern on foot.
The Istanbul Modern is one of my favourite museums in Istanbul, and in the world, in fact, and of course it is also one of the best. I went to see this when it first opened, as it just so happened that we were catching a Silversea cruise ship from Istanbul that same month and year that the Istanbul Modern opened.
CONTEMPORARY ART IN ISTANBUL
I’ve liked the Istanbul Modern ever since and I always try and go when I am in Istanbul.
It’s full of cutting-edge art as well as contemporary works by Istanbul artists.
A NICE LEATHER BAG
AT THE MUSEUM SHOP
The Istanbul Modern also has a very nice museum shop full of lovely things one never needs but suddenly wants.
On this visit, I ended up buying a handmade cutting-edge type of black leather bag for my Macbook Pro and all my gadgets, designed by a young artist and so very unique. I don’t need bags at all, and I usually use only one particular bag in my life, albeit in various colors, so this purchase was actually quite out of character.
THE BEST OF COOL NEW ISTANBUL
But I think that being at this cool museum had something to do with it. I wanted to go home with some cool new design item after seeing all the contemporary art.
The Istanbul Modern not a very big museum, but a visit here is really is a wonderful way to spend a beautiful autumn afternoon in Istanbul, living a never-ending #Travelife.
