This morning, in South Africa living a Travelife, I was at the One & Only Cape Town, enjoying a wonderful Cape Town sort of Friday morning.
We’d had an amazing and pretty decadent breakfast as usual, which included very fresh oysters from a bay nearby, lots of glasses of champagne (yes, this was at 9 AM), plus my usual fruits and eggs benedict.
The breakfast buffet at the One & Only Cape Town has got to be one of the most extensive in this part of the world.

SPA TIME FOR ME
Then I headed over to the spa of the One & Only Cape Town, which has been voted Africa’s best spa several times over, as I’d decided to try the famous pedicure treatment at the spa’s pedicure/ manicure studio.
The companion didn’t mind as he was set on driving up Signal Hill for a last look at the views of Cape Town, and then on going back to those posh neighborhoods along the coast.
For some reason, he’d suddenly gotten it in his head to buy a seaside property or a hillside property in Cape Town, after spending only two days here for the first time, and especially after driving along the coast yesterday afternoon.
In fact, it’s his very first time in Africa.
IN LOVE WITH RUST EN VREDE
As for his inspired property purchase, it was either a very nice Cape Town apartment by the sea, or a vineyard in Stellenbosch, he initially said.
He loved the Rust en Vrede vineyard-and-restaurant combination we’d gone to for dinner the other day, and he would probably take this if it was actually for sale.
But, as Rust en Vrede is not for sale, he was now leaning towards the Cape Town pad.
APARTMENT HUNTING TIME
So he wanted to check out some places he’d found for sale on the Internet.
While I’d been answering emails for work as I ate this morning, you see, he’d spent most of breakfast surfing the websites of Sotheby’s and other luxury property agents, and had already shortlisted a couple of places.
THE BEST PEDICURE IN THE WORLD
He now wanted to spend the morning property hunting before we left Cape Town in a few hours to drive along the Garden Route.
As for me, spending a morning getting the best pedicure in the world sounded way more palatable than driving all over the coast looking at empty houses.
So I’d booked an appointment with Kim Milton, who manages the Bastien Gonzalez pedicure/ manicure salon at the One & Only Cape Town spa, for this best pedicure in the world.
I’d been hearing about this famous pedicure for a very long time.
Created by Bastien Gonzalez, pedicurist to the A-list crowd in Paris and London, it is actually a set of pedicure and manicure treatments.
However, it’s the pedicure I keep hearing about, for some reason.
The Bastien Gonzalez pedicure or manicure are available elsewhere in select places such as all the One & Only resorts, as well as at the Mandarin Landmark in Hong Kong.
Some friends had done the pedicure and they had raved about it, but I’d never really found the opportunity until today, in Cape Town living a Travelife.
Watch out for
the TRAVELIFE APP for
THE BEST OF SOUTH AFRICA
To be released soon
And Kim is the most qualified therapist to do the Bastien Gonzalez manicure or pedicure in the entire South Africa.
THE WONDERFUL LIFE
What a decadent pedicure this truly is. But it was so worth it.
I’m going to recount it all in my next blog entry.
For now, let me tell you that my feet felt like new afterwards, and ever so ready to get on with the next chapter of my never-ending, and never-endingly eventful Travelife.
