Good afternoon from the most middle of nowhere possible in the Kalahari Desert of Northern Cape. This is the most remote place I have ever been to in my life, and it’s a truly beautiful and special place.

There’s no mobile phone signal here at all.

And until about half an hour ago, I was even told there was no Internet access, as my guide thought I should take a real break from working — so he purposely told me there was no Internet at all.

Finally, he could not keep it to himself any longer, and that’s why I’m online again, even just for a few minutes.

The highlight of the last 24 hours disconnected from the outside world, however, was the sighting of a cheetah crossing the road right in front of us.

This was just 15 minutes into our safari expedition into the Kalahari, and the cheetah was gorgeous. I’ve been on six safaris in Africa in the last 12 months now, and five of the safaris have been in the last 40 days alone.

I’ve been lucky to see almost every “major” wild animal in this short period of time, except for the cheetah. And so yesterday, my wild animal bucket list was complete (and I’m hooked on safaris so I’m planning to go on a few more next year).

That certainly made my day, on just another amazing safari in my never-ending, and never-endingly eventful Travelife.
