For one day in the last week of August, the upscale neighborhood of Beverly Hills became a dog paradise. World-famous luxury hotels renamed themselves for 24 hours on August 26.

GOING TO THE DOGS

The Beverly Hilton became the ‘The Beverly Howlton’ and The Beverly Wilshire was renamed the ‘The Beverly Wagshire’. Meanwhile, the Waldorf Astoria welcomed their VIPs – Very Important Paws – as ‘Wagdorf Astoria’, while L’Ermitage became Fur’mitage. Even The Peninsula called itself ‘The Pawninsula’. 

Even the AKA Beverly Hills was known as ‘American Kennel Association Beverly Hills’ on that day.

“Here in Beverly Hills, there’s something for even the most discerning of pups to enjoy,” said Julie Wagner, CEO of Beverly Hills Conference & Visitors Bureau.

She added: “From luxury stays at our ‘pawsome’ hotels, to gourmet sweet treats and spa treatments, the finest of Fido fashion and beautiful green areas for play, we know how much our residents and visitors alike cherish their pets.”

She continued: “We’re proud to be one of California’s most dog-friendly havens with a wealth of next level pooch pampering experiences for our guests’ furry friends.”

Alongside the name changes, the city also launched the digital ‘Beverly Howls’ guide. This new brochure outlines where to find the destination’s best night’s sleep in the plushest of doggie beds, the top outdoor places for walkies and playtime, plus premium pampering and snack options.

As one of America’s destinations with the most number of five-star hotels per square mile, Los Angeles aims to promote the city’s accessibility for those who just can’t bear to leave their pooch at home, even if they live across the pond.
