The perfect Manila staycation

Bonifacio Global City is currently the business and lifestyle hub of the Philippines and everyone wants to experience “living the BGC way” even just for a weekend. So one Friday, we decided to check into a three-bedroom apartment at the Ascott Bonifacio Global City, a luxury serviced apartment with hotel services right on 5th Avenue, a few steps away from Bonifacio High Street, the Mind Museum, and the hip restaurants and cafes of Burgos Circle.

We looked at our options before deciding on Ascott BGC. But after seeing the photos of their apartments on their website, this was definitely our top choice. Fortunately, our experience actually exceeded expectations as everything from check-in to check-out three days later was seamless and stress-free.

Our two-bedroom apartment had a user-friendly layout. The master bedroom was on one side and the two other bedrooms were on the other; and we had a spacious kitchen, dining room, and living room in the middle. I’m a stickler for interiors and the furnishings were all in good taste and easy on the eyes.

“I can live here!” I told my husband. The views were wonderful and the entire apartment instantly made us calm and happy. We knew we’d made the right choice.

Aside from the dream apartment, the best parts about Ascott BGC are its services. We had room service at our fingertips, and we were able to order dishes from the hotel’s restaurant directly, including a Filipino or a Western breakfast every day. So upon checking in, we ordered a late lunch of Filipino comfort food and Asian specialties via room service. Every dish we ordered was so good. No kidding. I ordered the noodles and the lechon kawali thrice on that stay.

In fact, we were so impressed by the food on that first meal that we changed our original plans to try out some of the restaurants around BGC, supposedly among Manila’s best. As far as we were concerned, nothing could compare to having a delicious meal in the privacy of our spacious apartment with a pretty spectacular view of BGC.

One night, so enjoying the Ascott BGC life, we even decided to invite some friends over for dinner. Yes, the apartment was grand enough to entertain in, especially with the room service team making sure that hosting a dinner was stress-free. Needless to say, our friends were just as impressed as we were.

“This isn’t bad at all,” the wife said, and this was of course an understatement. Because the apartment was wonderful and the room service meal was better than eating at a restaurant. She continued: “We might think about getting an apartment at the Ascott when we’re tired of the hassles of running a house. This is just perfect.”

My sentiments exactly.
