The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Manila, in cooperation with the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB), will hold a high-level networking session on 5 February 2020 from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM at the Rizal Ballroom C, Makati Shangri-La, Makati City. Prominent travel operators from Sri Lanka and sixty (60) local travel agents will be participating in the event.
The Resplendent Island
Sri Lanka is compact, diverse and authentic. The island contains a multitude of tourist destinations; from misty mountains, beaches, wildlife, beautiful landscapes, and a rich cultural heritage that dates back to more than 3,000 years.
As such, the country has gradually seen a growth in tourist arrivals from the Philippines since 2014. Based on statistics obtained from the 2014 record of 11,160 arrivals from the Philippines, the number has risen to 19,303 tourist arrivals in 2018.
The event aims to project Sri Lanka as an emerging tourism destination to the Filipinos traveling abroad; as well as promote the country as niche market for weddings, film tourism, cruise and culinary tourism. Further, the session provides a platform for formal introduction and discussions between represented prominent travel operators and their local counterparts.
Then from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, a cultural evening celebrating the country’s 72nd Independence Day will showcase the island’s beauty.
The diplomatic community, government officials, business sector, tourism industry players, and friends will attend the celebrations.
Guests can sample an array of local products, enjoy a live demonstration and tasting of authentic tea and food, and then watch a live performance of cultural dances. This is the time to discover the essence of what makes “SO Sri Lanka” a truly breathtaking travel destination.
