Macau has always fascinated us for its enthralling combination of over-the-top luxury and irresistible bravado. It began life as a Portugese post and a rather sleepy fishing town.
In just a few short decades, it has transformed itself into one of Asia’s most dynamic destinations, with world-class casinos and shopping malls, side-by-side with some of the best hotels and restaurants in the world.
Among an almost never-ending line-up of malls and casinos, The City of Dreams Macau is one of the city’s top destinations for its comprehensive arrray of world-class leisure and gaming facilities.
We certainly enjoyed ourselves on one long luxurious weekend in Macau, living a never-ending Travelife.
The Forbes five-star Crown Spa is one of Macau’s best.
It offers an extensive range of beauty and health services, including facials, body wraps, and detoxifying treatments.
It also has a glamorous and yet ultra-private hair salon that serves champagne and strawberries to clients getting treatments, plus vitality pools, sauna and steam rooms, and a state-of-the-art fitness center.
If you’re after the finest lodgings in Macau, look no further than Suite 3388 of the Crown Towers.
It offers 420 square meters of pure bliss and unparalleled views of the famous Cotai Strip on one side, and the sea on the other.
This three-bedroom comes with a private kitchen, an elegant dining room and a large living room – so it’s perfect for entertaining guests with the wow factor.

Offering both a modern and authentic taste, the Michelin-starred Jade Dragon is considered one of the best Chinese restaurants in Macau.
It takes on an innovative approach to Cantonese dining.
For example, their suckling pig is served with foie gras on fried man tou that can be eaten in four bites, while their bowl of beef noodles is made with top-quality wagyu beef.
Of course, the traditional delicacies so favored by discerning clientele are available as well, including abalone and botan shrimp served with “shao xin” plum wine jelly.
Enticing as the food is, however, the restaurant’s interiors are equally appealing.
This must be one of the loveliest Chinese restaurants anywhere in the world, with a combination of vibrant and muted colors, accented with jade ornaments and antiques, for a complete sensory experience.
The Tasting Room offers modern European cuisine amidst panoramic views of the Cotai district in a circular dining area with floor-to-ceiling windows and chandelier lights that provide the perfect accent.
Meanwhile, its signature dishes reflect some of the finest Western dining in Macau.
For instance, the chef slow cooks his version of the traditional onion soup for a truly flavorful taste, while fresh abalone is served carbonara-style with 36-month-old pata negra ham.
Of course, these flavorful dishes need an extensive wine list to be appreciated properly, and The Tasting Room doesn’t disappoint in this regard either.

The House of Dancing Waters is the world’s largest water production and now one of Macau’s major attractions.
Clad in skin-bearing outfits, the performers of the Taboo show at the Hard Rock Hotel Macau invite audiences to enjoy its version of sensual and acrobatic jaw-dropping performances.
Contrary to its name, Taboo gets excellent passing marks from us for being tasteful and entertaining, as well as extremely enjoyable.
Audience participation is part of the fun here, by the way, so don’t sit at the front if you’re squeamish about “baring it all in public.” You’re almost certainly going to have to literally join the show.
The latest time jewelry and accessories, electronic goods and fashion items are all available at The Boulevard, which is the main shopping arcade of the City of Dreams, connecting all hotels and entertainment outlets together.
No need to shop anywhere else in Macau, if The Boulevard is just an elevator ride away. The two top luxury hotels adjacent to it are Crown Towers and the Grand Hyatt Macau.
Here, guests are offered a most comprehensive collection of lifestyle and premium brands, including luxury brands like Cartier and as well as popular labels like Burberry and Coach. This is definitely a great deviation from playing casinos all day.
Visitors of all ages to the City of Dreams Macau will definitely enjoy this multimedia show.
It’s done in a one-of-a kind standing theater with a circular 27-meter wall to enable viewing of the 15-minute video from all angles.
The production is inspired by a mythical Chinese story about the search for a dragon’s treasure, and the encounters with the creatures of the sea along the way.
The City of Dreams Macau is definitely a one-stop entertainment shop in a city built on dreams and lots of chutzpah. Definitely a fun destination for a nice long weekend.
And, boy, we certainly are looking forward to planning another trip to Macau sometime sooner than later in our never-ending, and never-endingly eventful Travelife.
