Philosophy on a breakfast plate at Majeka House in South Africa’s Stellenbosch region

That’s me, signing the guest book at Majeka House last Thursday…

One morning in South Africa last week, living a Travelife, I went to breakfast and discovered all kinds of lovely bits of wisdom and humor on the breakfast plates.

“I kiss better than I cook…”
and “Don’t quit you day dream…”

We were staying at the beautiful Majeka House in Stellenbosch, which is one of the most special places to stay in this region, in a very non-commercial way.

It’s full of contemporary art and the owner’s lifetime collection of pigs.

“You are not a drop in the ocean.
You are the entire ocean in a drop…”

It also has an excellent restaurant called Macaron, which is among the best restaurants in South Africa.

I’ll write more about our wonderful dinner here in a separate entry….

This is right at heart of South Africa’s food and wine country, and it’s a perfectly situated and truly pretty and artsy boutique hotel in one of Stellenbosch’s nicest neighborhoods.

Tea and coffee are served in a very English way….

There are personal and very stylish details and touches everywhere, due mostly to the hands-on approach of the owners Lloyd and Karine van der Merwe, who also live in a lovely house just next door.

“Every day holds the possibility of a miracle…”

I was charmed right from the beginning, and especially when I saw my terribly spacious suite, which has an adjoining suite next to it, and these two rooms share a private swimming pool.

I’ll write more about this lovely hotel in succeeding posts.

“Never be afraid to try something new…”

But for now, let me share with you some photos I took of the charming and whimsical breakfast plates that certainly put a smile on my face so early in the morning, on just another happy day in my never-ending, and never-endingly eventful Travelife.
