This post is about training for marathons at the Adler Resorts in the Dolomites. Adler Resorts has created a special training holiday package for runners who wish to train for marathons in the Dolomites including the Alpe de Siusi Marathon and the Dolomites Saslong Marathon.
ADLER Spa Resort Balance in Italy has developed the ADLER MED Sports Performance package. Runners who book this package will be overseen by the in-house doctors of the Adler Spa Resort. The training package is designed to to make exercise easier at home for runners or to prepare runners for one of the long distance marathon challenges during the summer season in the Dolomites.
Meanwhile, the ADLER Mountain Lodge is offering a training week in the Dolomites with professional trainers, from June 25 to July 1. The runners will then participate in the Alpe di Siusi Half Marathon.
MEDICAL CONSULTATIONS AT THE ADLER SPA RESORT
All guests checking into the ADLER Spa Resort Balance for medical reasons must first undergo a preliminary consultation with the in-house medical team of the Adler Spa Resort. This medical consultation includes basic blood tests and private coaching sessions focusing on running techniques. There’s also a kinesiology consultation involving a manual muscle test that investigates the functional relationship linking muscle activity, the body’s meridians and reflex zones. These consultations will help doctors recommend the appropriate therapeutic approach.
MARATHONS IN THE DOLOMITES
At the end of the Sports Performance programme, guests can expect to be running better than before, either at home or in one of the region’s marathons. The Dolomites Saslong Half Marathon takes place on June 9, while the Alpe di Siusi Half Marathon takes place on July 1.
THE DOLOMITES SASLONG HALF MARATHON
The Dolomites Saslong Half Marathon is new for 2018 and is open to both amateur and professional runners. It’s a challenging trail run that winds through the breathtaking scenery of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Dolomites, with wonderful views of the Sella massiv, the Sasso Lungo and the Sasso Piatto mountains. It takes place on a combination of hiking trails and gravel/stone roads at altitudes of between 1624 meters and 2363 meters above sea level.
THE ALPE DI SUISI HALF MARATHON
The 6th Alpe di Siusi Half Marathon is the finale at the end of a week of high altitude training with fitness coach Egon Zuggal and fitness coach Rudi Brunner. Mr. Brunner is an orthopaedic technician specialising in performance diagnostics and endurance sports. Guests have the option to either participate in the full week, individual running activities or simply the race.
ABOUT THE ALPE DI SUISI RUNNING PARK IN THE DOLOMITES
Those joining the training week should check into the ADLER Mountain Lodge in the middle of the Alpe di Siusi. The Alpe di Siusi Running Park has 20 running trails totalling 180 kilometers of varying lengths and difficulty. The altitude varies between 1,800 meters and 2,300 meters above sea level, providing the perfect conditions for endurance training. This is why some of the world’s best marathon runners from Kenya regularly train here.
