If you’re into running, you may want to join a trail marathon in Spain, in the Canary Islands. Of course, this is not quite like a marathon in Madrid or Barcelona. But it’s a trail marathon in Spain nevertheless, and on a beautiful island as well.
ABOUT THE ISLAND OF LA PALMA IN THE CANARY ISLANDS OF SPAIN
The Transvulcania trail run will be held this May on the La Palma island in the Canaries. Also known as San Miguel de la Palma, it is the fifth largest of the seven main Canary Islands of Spain. La Palma is sometimes called the ‘pretty island.‘ This is because of its impressive volcanic landscapes, lush green laurel forests and istarry night skies. Runners who visit La Palma can enjoy a network of over 1,000 kilometers of marked trails.
OPTIONS FOR THE TRANSVULCANIA TRAIL MARATHON RUNS
The Transvulcania trail runs offer participants the option to choose a marathon that suits their running abilities and interests. So there’s no need to force yourself to do a 40K marathon, when you’re just starting out and happy doing a 5K marathon. Participants to the Transvulcania trail runs can choose between a half marathon, a marathon or ultra-marathon. The ultra-marathon will take place on May 12. Some of the best trail runners from around the world will be joining this unique ultra-marathon.
The Transvulcania trail ultra-marathon will take participants around the island, including on a steep ascent to the highest point on the island of La Palma. This is the Roque de Los Muchachos observatory which is situated at 2,400 meters above sea level.
