Today began with an early morning Pilates session with Brenda Lim at the UP Pilates Studio. I’m eager to get as many sessions in before my never-ending Travelife starts all over again.
It’s going to be one foodie trip after another, culminating in a big trip all over France, with a few days in San Sebastian, in July.
Somewhere in that session, my foot started cramping. So Brenda took out one of these Pilates balls for massaging the feet, and we spent the rest of the time working the never-before-used muscles of my feet.

THE BASTIEN GONZALEZ PEDICURE:
THE BEST PEDICURE IN THE WORLD
As we did this, I told her about the Bastien Gonzalez pedicure I’d had at the One & Only Cape Town in South Africa last January.
It was really wonderful, and I mentioned this to Brenda because my therapist in Cape Town had also suggested I work my feet muscles with a ball similar to what she was using.
So I actually bought one at the One & Only Spa in Cape Town.
A TRAVELIFE FOR A BALL
Brenda said to me: “You should bring that ball on your trips. It’ll make a big difference to your feet at the start of the day.”
So that ball is getting out of storage soon. I brought it home with me from my last trip to South Africa, and now it’s coming along with me on my never-ending Travelife.

LUNCH. OR WAS IT BRUNCH?
Then, for lunch, I was due at my friend M’s house for a fun brunch and makeup session.
I’d actually gotten the times mixed up as I’d been trying to fit so many things into one morning as usual; and so I arrived at her house nearer lunch than brunch.
By then she had already eaten, but she and her sister kindly cooked me a feast — a two-course lunch with a plate of assorted dessert and herbal tea.
I said: “Oh my goodness. I can’t even remember the last time I had a three-course lunch.“
What a feast this was. Of course, I’m sure I’ve had a three-course lunch recently; but as this whole week has been focused on my ayurveda detox, I’ve been trying to be very good about food and restaurants.
And so far, I haven’t been doing too badly.
EGGS BENEDICT AND PASTA FOR LUNCH
So they cooked and I ate, and we all sat and talked happily in her spacious kitchen.
The first course was an eggs benedict (as it was supposed to be brunch), and the second course was an angel hair pasta with pomodoro sauce.
I ate everything, even if the pasta was so not ayurvedic.
After lunch, we went up to her dressing room to experiment with makeup.
Wow. What a set-up she had, complete with lovely brushes, the right lighting, and all sorts of makeup.
Considering my usual idea of makeup is sunscreen, lip gloss and face powder, this was like Toy Kingdom for me.
Of course I got inspired to go out and outfit myself with all these pots and potions as well, as soon as possible.
See how cleverly she resurrected the last remnants of lipstick by placing them in pillboxes, ready for a new life.
MAKE-UP SHOPPING TIME IN PARIS
And just in time, as I’m going to be in Paris soon.
Perhaps I’ll drop by the Guerlain store on the Champs Elysees, which has the loveliest makeup station on the second floor.
I usually visit this store to buy perfume, and then I just wander up to the second floor for a look.
But this time, maybe I’ll actually come out with some shopping bags of stuff to use in my never-ending, and never-endingly eventful Travelife.
