Hotel Jen Penang in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of George Town

Hotel Jen Penang, a 17-storey landmark in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage district of George Town in Penang, Malaysia, unveiled its new look after a 15-month renovation.

In staying true to the roots of Hotel Jen Penang, elements of the colorful Peranakan culture were whimsically mixed into the design of the hotel. Each room and suite at the Hotel Jen Penang showcases heritage features of Peranakan culture on customized wallpaper – including the trishaw, colorful Peranakan tiles, and traditional shop-house louvered shutters.

The Club Lounge of the Hotel Jen Penang

Found on the 16th floor, the stylish Club Lounge of the Hotel Jen Penang includes cozy alcoves and bar-style seating. The exclusive Club Floor room is designed with dark wood panels and accents of yellow, green, and blue.

Café Jen offers authentic international flavors. Its decor is minimal with wooden tables and shelves of potted plants to stand out against the light grey flooring.

Like the rest of Hotel Jen Penang, the Lobby Lounge has a wood theme that showcases Peranakan style and comfort with decorative turquoise tiles and comfortable sofas.

“We’re excited to introduce the new and chic Hotel Jen Penang to our guests and the local community,” says Hotel Jen Penang General Manager Ody Odayappan. “We were able to successfully enhance the hotel’s personality, modernize guest experiences and keep to our brand promise to #LeaveBoringBehind.”
