Where to get married in the Maldives

The Secret Wedding Experience
at the Gili Lankanfushi in the Maldives
This is a post about where to get married in the Maldives.

The luxury resort Gili Lankanfushi in the Maldives is offering a wedding package called "Secret Wedding Experience," the first of its kind in the Maldives. This is designed for couples looking to celebrate their wedding vows in the most intimate setting possible.

The concept has been created in response to a growing number of requests for boutique weddings at the resort, which reflects the upward global trend for destination luxury elopements.

HOW TO PLAN A WEDDING IN THE MALDIVES

The Secret Wedding Experience
at the Gili Lankanfushi in the Maldives

Steven Phillips, General Manager at Gili Lankanfushi said: “It's long been known that planning a wedding can be a lengthy and anxious experience filled with stressful decisions like choosing the right venue and having to filter down a long guest list."

He added: "So, in the true spirit of Gili Lankanfushi, and in response to what couples have been telling us, we have created a simple, private and relaxing alternative. Our Secret Wedding Experience is perfect for those looking to say 'I do' privately, in the most peaceful and luxurious settings – letting us do all the hard work, so they can simply relax and enjoy every moment with us.”

Surrounded by Gili Lankanfushi's sparkling turquoise lagoon waters, couples can secretly 'tie the knot'* and will receive a special blessing from a local Maldivian cleric. Afterwards a traditional Bodu Beru Band will sing personalised love songs, before the couple sail off into the sunset aboard the traditional Dhoni boat of the Gili Lankanfushi.

The Secret Wedding Experience has been designed to completely minimise stress. Ahead of arrival, the team at Gili Lankanfushi will consult with the couple about the exact details and then manage a bespoke itinerary throughout their stay.

Wedding 'breakfast' dinner in the Maldives: Gili Lankanfushi's expert chefs will create a bespoke menu for the couple based on their favourite dishes, and this is served on One Palm Island – the resort's most iconic and romantic destination - surrounded by 1000 candles and glistening lanterns

Sleeping under the stars in the Maldives: For a wedding night to remember, the resort will set up a special bed on the rooftop of the couple's private accommodation, so they can spend the night underneath the stars.

Alain Ducasse is opening Rech at the Intercontinental Hong Kong

Rich by Alain Ducasse
at the Intercontinental Hong Kong

This post is about how Alain Ducasse is opening Rech at the Intercontinental Hong Kong.
Alain Ducasse Entreprise and the InterContinental Hong Kong are opening a new restaurant called Rech by Alain Ducasse within the former SPOON restaurant space which will be newly renovated.

SPOON by Alain Ducasse, which opened in 2003, will have its last night of service on January 1, 2017. The Rech opening is planned for mid-February 2017.

ABOUT RECH BY ALAIN DUCASSE
AT THE INTERCONTINENTAL HONG KONG

Rech is one of the most famous seafood restaurants in Paris.

It was created in 1925 by Adrien Rech, who arrived in Paris from Alsace. He first opened a grocery store that soon became a stylish café-restaurant where customers came to enjoy oysters from all around France, with seafood stalls, abundant with fresh shellfish just outside.

Very quickly the reputation of the restaurant grew all around Paris, and an institution was born. The restaurant was reborn through the efforts of Alain Ducasse who took over Rech in 2007.

Mr. Ducasse said, “To appreciate beautiful seafood is to appreciate its personality by knowing how to adapt the cooking process to reveal all the subtlety of flavours, unique to its own.”

THE MENU AT RECH BY ALAIN DUCASSE

The menu is an invitation to dive into the big blue, with inspired, passionate and creative dishes that change with the tides and the seasons, adapting to what the sea has to offer.

From the freshest oysters and fish directly from France, to appetizers with such tantalising names as:

Quick-sautéed baby squid with sea-scented herbs
Blue lobster, courgettes & currants
Thinly sliced sea bream, cucumber & ginger

Meanwhile, the entrées include:

Pan-seared line-caught sole, new potatoes (a Rech signature dish)
Baked John Dory, baby Swiss chard & confit lemon
Oven-baked gilt-head bream, tomatoes with pesto

The signature dessert is called "XL éclair, chocolate or coffee."
