HISTORY OF CHATEAU PAPE CLEMENT
Château Pape Clément is of course one of the Grand Cru Classé Wines in Bordeaux, France, as well as one of the oldest Grand Crus of Bordeaux with a history dating back to the 12th century.
The Estate took its name from its most famous owner, Bertrand de Goth, the Archbishop of Bordeaux who became Pope Clement V in 1305.
In the 1980s, entrepreneur Bernard Magrez took over the Château and has since built an unprecedented international reputation for this Grand Cru Classé wine. From the Pessac-Léognan appellation, Château Pape Clément is ranked among the Crus Classés for red and white wine in the Classification of Graves wine in 1959.
BORDEAUX'S OLDEST WINE ESTATE
winery and vineyards are located in the commune of Pessac, south-west of the city of Bordeaux.
