Wine Spectator awards the restaurants of the Sands Resort Cotai Strip Macao and the Sands Macao

Six restaurants at Sands Resorts Cotai Strip Macao and Sands Macao have once again received recognition from U.S. lifestyle magazine Wine Spectator for their outstanding wine lists.

Portofino, North, Canton and Dynasty 8 at Sands Resorts, along with Golden Court at Sands® Macao were awarded the 'Best of Award of Excellence', while Sands Macao's Copa Steakhouse received the Award of Excellence.

This is the fifth consecutive year that Wine Spectator magazine has awarded the signature restaurants of Sands China for their outstanding wine lists.

The restaurant wine list award program has three distinct levels: Award of Excellence, Best of Award of Excellence, and Grand Award. Each level follows select qualifications utilized by a multi-judge panel.

The criteria range from quantitative measurements such as number of wine selection to depth, range and display of the list. 

“We are proud and honoured to be recognised by Wine Spectator for the fifth year in a row,” said Charles Newland, senior vice president of food and beverage and director of operations of Paiza for Sands China Ltd. “The Wine Spectator award is one of the best indicators of our effort in offering the best culinary experience to our customers.”


This year, Portofino, siganture Italian restaurant at The Venetian Macao, received the 'Best of Award of Excellence' again, making it the fifth consecutive year to receive such recognition; while North, the North-eastern Chinese restaurant and the signature high-end Cantonese restaurant Canton both received the 'Best of Award of Excellence' for the fourth consecutive year.

In addition Dynasty 8, Conrad Macao's signature Chinese restaurant located at Sands Cotai Central also earned the 'Best of Award of Excellence 'for the third year in a row.


Long recognised as one of the best steakhouses in Macao and Hong Kong, Copa Steakhouse at Sands Macao also garnered the 'Award of Excellence' for fourth consecutive years.

Sands Macao's Golden Court has also been awarded 'Best of Award of Excellence', which is the first time that the restaurant receives the recognition from Wine Spectator Restaurant Awards.

Founded in 1976, Wine Spectator magazine in 1981 introduced its Restaurant Awards programme to review wine lists. Its Restaurant Wine List Awards recognize restaurants which offer interesting selections of wines that are appropriate to their cuisines and appeal to a wide range of wine lovers.
