The best beauty products from Hokkaido, Japan, include a hair growing tonic and a cleansing balm made of pure horse oil.

Remembering a hot springs holiday in Hokkaido
living a #Travelife...

At the hair salon last Saturday, living a #Travelife, my stylist commented: "You have so many baby hairs growing, and your hair is way thicker than it used to be."

This is true, and it suddenly made me remember a nice little autumn holiday in Hokkaido with the Travel Companion. It was on this foodie and hot spring trip to Hokkaido, you see, that I'd discovered a Japanese hair growing tonic at one of the lovely hot springs inns we'd stayed in.

SOME SHOPPING AT
A HOT SPRINGS RYOKAN IN HOKKAIDO

One of the many courses at a dinner
on a hot springs holiday in Hokkaido,
living a #Travelife...

We'd been looking around the gift shop after a wonderful kaiseki dinner when a bottle on display at the shop caught my eye.

It claimed to use Japanese herbs to make hair stronger, and also to use Japanese herbs to make new hair grow, over a period of several months.

AN EFFECTIVE HERBAL HAIR TONIC
FROM JAPAN

Well, I took a set of three bottles home with me figuring it wouldn't hurt to try it, and I've been using this Japanese hair growing tonic religiously ever since.

Some of my best beauty products buys
from around the world, living a #Travelife:

Pure rose petal extract
Ouarzazate, Morocco

Herbal hair tonic
Noboribetsu, Hokkaido

Horse oil black soap
New Chitose International Airport
Hokkaido

Omorovicza Copper Peeling Kit
Budapest, Hungary

Innis-free sunblock face powder
Jeju Island, South Korea

Prickly pear cactus oil
Marrakech, Morocco

Vinotherapy products
Les Sources de Caudalie
Bordeaux, France

And, yes, I have noticed the difference, although the words of the professional hair stylist on Saturday certainly reconfirmed it for me.

Hokkaido has been very good for me in terms of finding interesting and effective Japanese beauty products.

A CLEANSING BALM
MADE FROM PURE HORSE OIL

On my most recent trip to Sapporo, this time to attend the opening ceremonies of the Sapporo Winter Festival, living a #Travelife, I picked up a face cleanser made of pure horse oil at the Sapporo's New Chitose International Airport while waiting for my flight back to Tokyo, as this certainly seemed like a novel concept.

OMOROVICZA:
ONE OF MY FAVOURITE BEAUTY BRANDS

I also decided to buy this Japanese cleansing oil because its consistency reminded me of the Omorovicza mud cleansing balm I'd bought at the Four Seasons Hotel in Budapest last December, which I'm now running short of.

I love this product, by the way, along with almost every skincare product Omorovicza makes.

So this was my incentive to buy the cleansing horse oil at Sapporo Airport last week, living a #Travelife.

And in this short period of time, I've gotten hooked and my skin has never looked or felt better -- perfect for my never-ending, and never-endingly eventful #Travelife.
