The best Christmas markets in the Czech Republic. And about the Christmas market of Pilsen.

Going out to dinner in Prague tonight, living a #Travelife.
It was actually warm enough to wear just a fur stole
instead of a fur coat....

Tonight in the Czech Republic, living a #Travelife, we visited another Christmas market before going out to dinner.

This time we went to the Christmas market in the lovely city of Pilsen, one of the European capitals of culture for 2015, which is about 70 kilometres away from Prague. With someone driving on a pretty nice highway, it took us less than an hour to get there.

THE CAPITAL OF BEER

Pilsen, by the way, is best known for beer, but it's also a really beautiful town with a big square in the city centre next to the cathedral, surrounded by picturesque architecture.

Meanwhile, the Christmas market of Pilsen is a smaller version of the most famous Christmas market of Prague, which is the market in the Old Town Square, and it was very lovely.

I couldn't resist taking this photo
of a French fries vendor at the
Pilsen Christmas market today...

THE BEST OF LOCAL FOODS AND CRAFTS

There was a huge manger in the middle and lots of very local stores that don't make it to Prague's Christmas market. There were townsfolk selling their home-made honey, sausages and cheeses, so we got to taste a bit of everything.

One farmer was selling two kinds of hard cheeses: an emmenthal and one other variety of cheese I'd never heard of. The second cheese was very good, and I imagined it would go very well with wine.

And then we headed back to Prague for dinner at one of my favourite restaurants, living a never-ending, and never-endingly eventful #Travelife.
