A birthday lunch hosted by Felix Ang and the Mercedes Benz guys. And about a party for Yoko Ono and everyone's idea of a dream car.

In Manila today, living a #Travelife, I attended a birthday lunch hosted by Felix Ang of CATS Motors and Mercedes Benz, and his top executives Renato Nunez, and Robert Shaw, President and VP of Mercedes Benz respectively.

We had a nice round table in the private room of Passion Restaurant, which is one of Manila's best Chinese restaurants, and it was a very merry afternoon.

I DON'T THINK I'M GETTING A BENZ
AS A BIRTHDAY GIFT

Initially, I was going to tease Felix: "I thought I was going to get a Benz as a birthday gift at the end of lunch."

But we all had such a fun time discussing everything under the sun that I promptly forgot to ask him for a Benz for my birthday. And anyway, someone else actually gave me a pretty swish car for my birthday already.

A BIRTHDAY WEEK IN MOROCCO

As usual, I was the last to arrive, and for this lunch I was the only female as well.

The guys were all talking about cars, of course. And Felix had some friends who had come along with me on a #Travelife to Morocco earlier this month. So when he greeted me upon arrival, he said: "I heard you celebrated your birthday in Marrakech."

Yes, I had a very nice general birthday week in Marrakech, with several birthday dinners and birthday breakfasts.

Celebrating my birthday in the same private riad
that Tom Cruise stayed in while filming Mission Impossible 5
in Marrakech, living a #Travelife...

FRANKFURT MOTOR SHOW
VS. TOKYO MOTOR SHOW

Then, just because it's coming up very soon, I asked: "Anyone going to the Tokyo Motor Show?"

Not too many hands around the table. Stupid me. Of course everyone goes to the Frankfurt Motor Show in this crowd.

"Are you going to the Tokyo Motor Show?" One of the guys asked me.

GOING TO TOKYO
TO MEET YOKO ONO

I said: "I'm going to Tokyo at the same time, but not for the Tokyo Motor Show. I'm going to attend a party for Yoko Ono."

That certainly changed the conversation from cars to stars

One of the guys said: "Forget the Tokyo Motor Show. Let's talk about Yoko Ono. I would do anything to meet her."

THE GUY WITH OVER 100 CARS

So the conversation at lunch flowed freely and easily.

These guys are real car enthusiasts like no other, and one of them actually has over 100 cars in a humidity-controlled garage. I thought this was a real big deal until he said someone else he knew has 350 cars.

THE DREAM CAR.
AND I SO AGREE.

At the end of it all, I just couldn't resist posing this question around the table: "If you could get any car in the world tomorrow, no budgets and no conditions, which car would this be?"

These guys have ridden and driven every kind of car under the sun, after all.

Wow. Almost hands down, everyone chose the sporty Benz with the seagull doors that fly up and make you think of James Bond -- including the non-Benz guys.

And I can understand why. Someone picked me up in one of these seagull sports cars (or at least that's what I call them) not too long ago and I still can't ever forget that evening, somewhere in the world, living a never-ending, and never-endingly eventful #Travelife.
