The annual Christmas concert of the Peninsula Manila. And all about a nice dinner at the Old Manila afterwards.

Kuh Ledesma performing tonight

Tonight in Manila, living a #Travelife, I attended the annual Christmas concert of the Peninsula Manila after a long day spent shopping for clothes with the wife of an ambassador.

The Peninsula Christmas concert is one of my favourite Christmas rituals, and I go every year as long as I am in Manila.

For me, Christmas doesn't officially start until the Peninsula Christmas concert is over.

FIRST-RATE PERFORMERS

Lani Misalucha wasn't feeling very well,
but she sang a few songs very beautifully

As always, the concert was conducted by Maestro Ruggieri with the Philippine Philarmonic Orchestra.

The performers included opera singer Camille Lopez-Molina and contemporary diva Lani Misalucha, with the special participation of Kuh Ledesma.

This year, we had a very merry table at the concert, as guests of Peninsula Manila GM Sonja Vodusek.

PRACTICALLY LIVING AT THE PENINSULA

As I wrote in an earlier blog entry, I really should have just booked myself into the Peninsula for the three-weeks of Christmas and New Year celebrations as I'm here every single day.

In fact, I double-checked my schedule on my phone calendar just tonight, and it's one event after another at the Peninsula everyday until December 31st.

DINNER AT OLD MANILA

Dinner at the Magsaysay Room
of the Old Manila tonight

And then after the concert, some of us headed to the Magsaysay Room, which is the private room of the Old Manila, for a nice, long and relaxing dinner.

I think I ate enough for a year. And then some.

That's all our iPhones, having dinner.
And this photo was taken with my iPod.

Tonight, I ordered my favourite healthy green salad and then a dry aged prime rib steak for a main course.

I also wanted to have the pasta, however, (yes, having my cake and eating it, too, as usual) so I asked for the blue crab tortellini on the side.

A REALLY GOOD HALO-HALO TO END

What a delicious halo-halo this was

Everyone was quite surprised at how much I was eating, especially as I ordered a halo-halo from the lobby for dessert as well.

I think only three people in our table of eight dared to order dessert after so much champagne and cocktails at the Christmas concert, followed by this very hefty dinner.

A NICE WINE FOR DINNER

We opened a bottle from Duckhorn in the Napa Valley to accompany dinner, too, and wasn't that so good with my steak.

living a #Travelife

It was Saturday night, after all, and less than two weeks before Christmas.

And there we were having a most delicious dinner, and living a never-ending, and never-endingly eventful Travelife.
