We'd decided to do another party together in the new year, you see, and this is part 2 of our very successful joint birthday party last year.

A REALLY NICE PARTY LAST YEAR
Last year, we threw a joint birthday party together at his pretty fabulous house in Manila's nicest neighbourhood, and about 400 people joined us to dance and party all night.
His house can seat 200 people comfortably for a formal dinner, but we had the 400 guests in the downstairs terrace instead, for a dance party and a buffet supper.
16 PEOPLE FOR DINNER
This time, we've decided to just do a dinner together for sixteen, as that's how many his main dining table can seat comfortably.
Although if I had my way entirely, I probably would've turned this into a dance party for 400 -- or at least for 40 -- as well.
But we've set a date early in 2015, and then this morning we decided on exactly what kind of party to have.
TWO CHOICES FOR DINNER
The choice was an open house kind of New Year party with an eclectic bunch of people, or a more intimate New Year party that will also serve as a farewell party for an ambassador of an important country, and his wife, who are among my closest friends.
We eventually decided on the latter, and worked out a tentative guest list over FB messenger this afternoon. I even began inviting some people late today, including the ambassador of one of the most important countries to the Philippines.
And then I suggested that Mr. Jaded get his pianist to come over, as he has a wonderful grand piano in his main living room, and I really want an informal and relaxed kind of dinner party.
SOME VERY NICE
Then I proposed to hire a singer to do contemporary songs and non-sentimental Broadway type of songs that will make people feel relaxed.
We all go to so many formal events so I specifically wanted something relaxed and informal.
Also, for some reason, I didn't feel like an opera evening, and I don't really like very sentimental songs either.
So I settled on light and happy songs for just another wonderful evening in my never-ending, and never-endingly eventful Travelife.
