Cocktails at the New Zealand Ambassador's residence, and dinner at the Japanese Ambassador's residence, to celebrate the Emperor's birthday

Tonight in Manila, living a Travelife, I was double-booked, thankfully in the same neighbourhood.

I began the evening with drinks at the residence of the Ambassador of New Zealand, to welcome New Zealand's Minister of Immigration to Manila.

He made a very informative speech, and then we all talked about New Zealand and its many charms in the lanai of the residence.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE EMPEROR

Then I headed off to the residence of the Ambassador of Japan just a few minutes away, to join in the official celebration for the birthday of the Emperor of Japan.

The new Ambassador of Japan has only been in Manila for the past two months, so it was nice to say hello to him and his wife, as well as to see many friends who I have not seen much of this year, since I've been away a lot, living a Travelife.

EVERYONE WITH A JAPAN CONNECTION
WAS AT THE AMBASSADOR'S HOUSE

Of course, everyone connected to Japan in some way was at this dinner. I met many of our valued partners, as well as the heads of all the top Japanese companies in Manila.

The food looked excellent, too, although I have to admit that I had all of two pieces of sushi and one shrimp tempura for dinner, as I was still really full from lunch.

Yes, today, I'd had another pretty delicious steak for a truly enjoyable lunch, making this my third steak in just 24 hours, living a never-ending, and never-endingly eventful Travelife.
