A stuffed toy making workshop at the Yuchengco Museum last Sunday

Last Sunday in Manila, living a Travelife, one of the most enjoyable things I did was to attend a stuffed toy making workshop.

I literally spent the afternoon helping a little girl design and sew a pink teddy bear from flannel fabric and felt.

A PRODUCTIVE AFTERNOON

Although I'm actually used to sewing -- in fact I used to mend all my clothes when I was studying abroad -- I haven't touched a needle and thread in a very long time.

What fun this was, even for the adults, to create a stuffed toy from scratch.

RELAXING EVEN FOR ADULTS

I bumped into someone I knew at this workshop as well, and she said exactly the same thing: "How relaxing this activity is."

Of course, this was a very educational session for the children. And bravo to the Yuchengco Museum for organising this workshop.

MORE INTERACTIVE WORKSHOPS SOON

On my way out, I bumped into the PR coordinator of the museum. She told me: "We're going to be planning more interactive workshops for children soon."

I hope so, because for children, an afternoon spent making a stuffed toy out of nothing certainly beats just being on an iPad or watching television.
