The Club at Café Royal is the latest London landmark to pay homage to the city’s leading figures.
It celebrates the great and the good who frequented this place centuries ago, together with the future and established stars from the literary, art and fashion world who will frequent the Cafe Royal from now.
TRAVELIFE WITH US
Everyone who was anyone came here for many reasons, not least because the Cafe Royal was the first establishment to serve French gourmet cuisine in London. Afterwards, it quickly became known as having the greatest wine cellar in the world.
Frank Harris, a wine connoisseur in the 19th century, described the cellar of the Cafe Royal in his memoirs: "Even in 1884-1885, the Cafe Royal had the best cellar in the world. Fifteen years later, it was best ever seen on earth."
