Gulf Air launches flights between Asia and Moscow via Bahrain

Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, will launch direct services to Moscow from October 28, 2014.

The airline will operate four flights per week to Domodedovo International Airport – 42 kilometers (26 mi) south-southeast from the center of Moscow and the city’s largest airport in terms of passenger and cargo traffic.

This new flight route follows Gulf Air’s recent commencement of services to a number of destinations including Sialkot in Pakistan, Tehran in Iran and Athens.

Gulf Air Acting Chief Executive Officer Maher Salman AlMusallam said: “Gulf Air will, for the first time, enter Russia and the addition of Moscow operations further demonstrates the airline’s strategy of strengthening our network with key global destinations that provide strategic business and tourism links."

He added: "By connecting Bahrain with Moscow we are opening up new doors of opportunity for trade, tourism and investment for both countries. We are confident this new route will be a success for our passenger operations, and we look forward to facilitating business and leisure traffic between the two countries and beyond.”


One of the fastest growing tourist destinations in the world, Moscow is home to a number of historic and cultural sights in addition to iconic landmarks such as the Red Square and the Kremlin.

It boasts of approximately 3 million tourists annually.

Gulf Air flights to Moscow’s Domodedovo International Airport will be operated by an A320-ER aircraft in a two-class configuration of 14 Falcon Gold seats and 96 seats in Economy.
