THE BEST WHISKY IN THE WORLD

The 2014 edition blends premium malts as diverse as Clynelish and Glen Elgin from Speyside with peated and 23 year-old Bunnahabhain from Islay.

Berry Bros. & Rudd continues its noble tradition of being the collectors’ blended malt.

It was voted ‘Best Blended Malt Whisky in the World’ in 2011 by Whisky Advocate, which hailed the 6th edition of Blue Hanger as ‘world class’ and ‘stunning stuff.’

WHAT'S IN THE 2014
9th EDITION WHISKY

The 9th edition is a vatting of the following:

1) 4 Single Malts
2) 2 Speysides (a 17-year-old Clynelish and 18-year-old Glen Elgin)
3) 2 Islays (a 23-year-old Bunnahabhain and 7-year-old Bunnahabhain peated)

Rich and luxurious on the nose with complex hints of orange peel, vanilla and peat smoke, the 9th edition is luscious, fruity and smoky on the palate with a complex and long finish. It is natural in colour and non-chill filtered.

ABOUT WILLIAM HANGER, LORD COLERAINE
THE INSPIRATION FOR THE BLUE HANGER

Priced at HK$1,900 per 70 cl bottle, the Blue Hanger is named after William Hanger, the 3rd Lord Coleraine and a loyal customer of Berry Bros. & Rudd in the late 18th century.

He was renowned for the striking blue clothes he wore and this is how he gained the soubriquet, “Blue Hanger.”

HOW THE BLUE HANGER TASTES

On the 9th edition Blue Hanger, spirits manager Doug McIvor, who creates the annual blends, said: “Every release is unique, although there is continuity in overall style to retain the rich, smooth, fruity complexity that makes this whisky stand out from the crowd.”

He added: “There has always been a strong influence from Sherry casks but I try to rein this in to offer balance and complexity from the other casks.”
