UNESCO'S NEW WORLD HERITAGE SITES
FOR 2014

Meanwhile, the following have made it to the 2014 list of new UNESCO World Heritage sites:

GUJARAT, INDIA
Rani-ki-Vav (The Queen's Stepwell)

This was initially built as a memorial to a king in the 11th century and it's an amazing and intricately carved water resource and storage system.

I actually visited this stepwell last year, before it became a UNESCO World Heritage site, and it truly was a marvel to behold.

Located in the middle of a most unassuming area of fields and houses, about an hour from Gujarat itself, you have no idea from the ground of the beauty that lies beneath.

In Gujarat, India last year

BURSA, TURKEY
Bursa & Cumalikizik

A series of well-preserved neighborhoods consisting of mosques, religious schools, public baths and kitchens for the poor that offer an excellent indicator of the life at the beginning of the Ottoman Empire.
