My office in The Bridge, the new Cathay Pacific lounge in Hong Kong

Just before takeoff last night...

Last night I boarded the Cathay Pacific long-haul flight from Hong Kong to Johannesburg.

It was my nth time to switch planes at Hong Kong airport this year, as well as my nth time in the Cathay Pacific lounge called The Bridge. I've been here so many times this year that I've lost count.

MY OFFICE IN HONG KONG

I was just here two weeks ago, switching planes on a return trip from Paris and Istanbul. And tonight I sat in exactly the same seat.

This has become "my office in Hong Kong."

This is my favorite seat in the lounge because it's like a little office with all the privacy you need. It also has a very tall and straight back, which is great when you're at your computer.

No back strain afterwards!

IN THE MIDDLE OF EVERYTHING

The Bridge was opened last year.

It's the newest lounge of Cathay Pacific in Hong Kong airport and it's the most centrally located. The other lounges are near some gates but far from others, but The Bridge is basically centrally located.

THERE GOES A FATTENING TRADITION

The only thing I miss in this lounge is the dandan-men, which are the spicy noodles I just love. I used to always eat two bowls of this on a Hong Kong stopover out of habit.

It was my stopover ritual.

But since I started going to The Bridge instead, I've passed up this spicy noodle treat. Usually I just have tea and some  dim sum, which is probably better for my health anyway.

One of the things I like best about Cathay Pacific's new business class
is the mirror installed in the "cabinet" of each set
SOMEONE REMEMBERS ME

But just to show you how often I've been using this lounge, tonight one of the Chinese attendants recognized me and greeted me as I walked in.

"Would you like more lemons again?" She asked, remembering our conversation from two weeks ago, when I transited through Hong Kong from Paris and Istanbul.

AN AFTERNOON OF LEMONS
AT THE BRIDGE

I'd spent the afternoon at The Bridge, you see, and  I'd been drinking herbal tea with lemon.

But ever so finicky about possible toxins in my life (and that includes toxic people, by the way), I'd carefully cut the rinds out with a fork and knife as any pesticides are on the lemon skin.

She found this terribly fascinating. As for me, it was just another afternoon in my never-ending, and never-endingly eventful Travelife.

Last to board for Johannesburg, as usual
