|My bedroom in Johannesburg|
This morning, I woke up in the most comfortable place possible in Johannesburg and took my sweet time dressing up.

WHAT A BEAUTIFUL DAY
So I went over to the breakfast place and sat by the window as it was a most beautiful day.
On Saturday morning, about 30 people are arriving in Johannesburg to join me for an adventure in Johannesburg and the Northern Cape.
I really hope the weather holds up, and it most probably will, as winters in Joburg are usually fine and rainless.
In that sense, I'm very glad I chose to do the Northern Cape this May instead of the usual Cape Town, as Cape Town in May can be quite rainy.
NOT A PROMISING START
Anyway, determined to make up for last night's binge on a sticky date pudding, I ordered Greek yoghurt with fruits, a croissant, and smoked salmon.
This is the kind of thing I eat a lot when I'm traveling.
But before anything else arrived, this extremely colorful plate of red pancakes was set in front of me.

THE MAGIC OF RED VELVET PANCAKES
Oh my goodness, it was the most beautiful plate of red velvet pancakes I had ever seen. And I remembered a conversation I'd had with the chef last night, and he said I needed to eat his red velvet pancakes.
If you know me, you'll know that hardly anyone can ever order me around.
THE CHEF WITH A MIND OF HIS OWN
But, for some reason, this chef never listens to what I want to eat.
I keep telling him I want healthy and delicious stuff because I would like to end my trip to South Africa just a little bit trimmer and leaner -- and all he does is smile and send over my way all these things that are just way too good to say no to.
The red velvet pancakes were the same. They were incredible. I've never had such lovely pancakes before, in my never-ending Travelife.
WHAT A RED VELVET PANCAKE IS LIKE
They were moist and soft on the inside and crispy on the outside, layered with a mixture of sour cream and whipped cream, and then drizzled with organic honey.
This dish alone must have been about 3000 calories, but I didn't care. It was so good that it was worth it -- just like so many other things that are bad for you.
The way things are going, the diet will never start, in this never-ending, and never-endingly eventful Travelife.
