THE REAL REASON FOR A TRIP TO MANILA
I really went back to Manila to meet someone from South Africa who was flying out of Manila about 18 hours after my own arrival.
I flew in from Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific at midnight on Saturday, and he was flying out of Manila for Johannesburg on Singapore Airlines on Sunday night.
So I hosted him and his party for lunch at my home, 12 hours after returning from halfway around the world, serving a nice buffet of Filipino food.

He said to me, while we were having lunch: "I can't believe you just got back. You shouldn't have gone to this trouble."
12 HOURS IN THE SAME CITY
I replied: "When are we ever in the same city for at least 12 hours?"
Besides, I needed to talk to him in person, to get his help for my upcoming Travelife to South Africa, literally around the corner, even if I'm still in Tokyo right now thinking about where to have a very nice lunch tomorrow, as I type this out.
A TRAVELIFE TO SOUTH AFRICA
I'm bringing some of our readers to the least-trodden parts of South Africa, you see, and I wanted to make sure it will be an excellent trip.
If anyone can help me pull this off with a few finishing touches, it's certainly this gentleman.
IT'S ALL IN THE WONDERFUL DETAILS
So, yes, over lunch we fixed lots of things for our South Africa Travelife next week and it looks simply amazing.
We've pulled out all the stops for this one.
If you're joining me on this trip next week, you're going to be in for a real treat -- and a wonderful experience of a never-ending, and never-endingly eventful Travelife.
