Two dinners and a special celebration. And how JW Marriott is coming to Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Philippines.

This afternoon, almost straight from three heavenly days of detox and relaxation at The Farm at San Benito, staying in what is definitely the most beautiful villa in the Philippines right now, I sped straight back to Manila after lunch to catch up on a few minutes of work at the office and then to head on to two dinners.

A DETOX AND TWO ENJOYABLE DINNERS

The first dinner was a catch-up meeting as well as a business strategy session. This took place at the new XO46 in Century City.

What a great combination it is to have good food and lots of great ideas. More on my retreat at The Farm at San Benito and my dinner at XO46 in future blog entries.

DINNER AT THE INDIAN AMBASSADOR'S

Then, I headed to Forbes Park, to attend a dinner hosted by the Indian Ambassador and his wife in honor of two young ladies who had made it to Miss Tourism and Miss Talent of the Binibining Pilipinas pageant.

These two young ladies are half-Indian in origin, and so there was much rejoicing within the Indian community.

A DOUBLE CELEBRATION

As someone tonight said, however, the dinner was a double celebration because today marked the first official day of the Ambassador as the official representative of India to the Philippines.

He presented his credentials to President Benigno Aquino III this morning, so he is now an accredited ambassador to the Philippines.

I was probably the only Filipino in the party tonight who was not working in the embassy or married to an Indian national.

So I was very honored to be included, and what an enjoyable evening this was.

REMEMBERING HOW I MET
THE PRESIDENT OF SINGAPORE LAST THURSDAY

It was just like last Thursday, when I was very honored to be included in the party hosted by the Ambassador of Singapore for the President of Singapore, who was visiting Manila.

Again, I think I was the only Filipino at the party who wasn't married to a Singapore national.

JW MARRIOTT IS OPENING A HOTEL
IN PALAWAN

Anyway, back to tonight's party.

We had Indian food on a terrace by the swimming pool, and I sat and talked about hotels with an Indian gentleman who is the owner of the upcoming J.W. Marriott Hotel that's going to rise on a spectacularly wide private beachfront about 30 minutes from Puerto Princesa.

JW Marriott is the top luxury category for the Marriott hotel group.

This will be the first ever JW Marriott property in the Philippines. The architecture will be done by a Philippine firm while the interiors have been contracted out to a Thai design firm. What a great boost for tourism in that area of the country.

LEAVING ON A JET PLANE.
AGAIN.

So much else to write about but these will all have to wait until I catch my breath.

I've got to pack as I'm heading out again tomorrow for a very quick trip -- almost a daytrip, really -- across the ocean, for a couple of hours of fun, a little bit of shopping, and some good eating.

In other words, just another wonderful trip in my never-ending, and never-endingly eventful Travelife.
