Dilmah, the third largest global tea brand in the world, recently held a high tea challenge in Hong Kong, which paired fine food and Dilmah tea.
The Hong Kong Cricket Club and the Island Shangri-La are the joint winners of Dilmah's prestigious ‘Real High Tea Challenge 2014,’ held for the first time in Hong Kong.

THE JUDGING PROCESS
The judges were Dilhan C Fernando, son of Dilmah founder Merril J Fernando, and celebrity chef and Dilmah Ambassador Peter Kuruvita.
They awarded marks from a points system based on the understanding of the Real High Tea tradition as well as a demonstration of different brewing techniques, creative use of tea as a focal ingredient and outstanding presentation and service.

Throughout the competition, both the Hong Kong Cricket Club and the Island Shangri-La demonstrated a real understanding of the Real High Tea concept.

THE GRAND PRIZES
The newly crowned winners will travel to Sri Lanka to learn all there is to know about tea at the Dilmah School of Tea.

They will also qualify to travel back to Sri Lanka to compete in the Dilmah Real High Tea Global Challenge, due to take place in January 2015.
Meanwhile, the joint runners were Hollywood Hotel and the Kowloon Shangri-La, who also demonstrated a solid and creative approach to tea pairings throughout all stages of the competition.
Judge Dilhan C Fernando said, “We were extremely impressed by the high standard demonstrated throughout the Hong Kong Real High Tea Challenge today. The Hong Kong Cricket Club and the Island Shangri-La both showcased an extraordinary and unique outlook to tea pairings whilst also crafting a beautifully presented culinary creation combined with excellent service and approach."
