France's famous Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc celebrates its 100th year anniversary in style

The famous Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, on the French Riviera, is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Eden-Roc Pavilion and its famous seawater swimming pool.

Renowned as the ultimate ‘see and be seen’ celebrity hotspot of the Cote d’Azur, the Eden-Roc Pavilion and the adjacent Eden-Roc Restaurant will be hosting some of the most glamorous events of the Riviera’s 2014 summer season.

This includes two ultra-gourmet gala dinners presided over by Michelin-starred chefs and award-winning sommeliers.

The Eden-Roc Pavilion was created in 1914 when a sea-water pool was hollowed out of the basalt rock below the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc.

This landmark pool grew in fame in the 1950s and 1960s when it bore witness to the ‘landing’ of the world’s elite in an eclectic parade. Everyone who was anyone, from the Kennedy family and the Duke and Duchess of Windsor to Marlene Dietrich, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Ernest Hemingway spent time in this pool.

Today, the Eden-Roc Pavilion is still at the centre of the French Riviera’s buzzing social scene, where Hollywood film stars can be seen rubbing shoulders with European royalty and the world’s glitterati.
