A HK$100,000 gastronomic dinner at Hutong in Hong Kong

We at Travelife Magazine join the rest of the world in wishing for the safe recovery of the Malaysia Airlines flight that disappeared enroute to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur.

Hutong restaurant at One Peking, Tsim Sha Tsui, in Hong Kong, is famed for its fiery but delicious northern Chinese cuisine, sleek jaw-dropping interiors and spectacular views of the Hong Kong skyline.

It's celebrating its 10th anniversary with a series of uniquely indulgent menus and a once-in-a-lifetime 十万shí wangastronomic journey from March 10 to May 10, 2014.

BEHIND THE NAME "HUTONG"

Hutong takes its name from the traditional Chinese courtyards of Beijing, which are also the design inspiration for the restaurant. However, its cuisine takes culinary inspiration from the Lu School of cuisine, originally from Shandong Province.

This type of cooking is reportedly a favourite of the Imperial palaces in Peking.

A MICHELIN STAR TRAILBLAZER

Hutong was one of the first Chinese restaurants to earn a Michelin star.

This prompted the Aqua Restaurant Group to open a second equally stunning restaurant in Europe’s tallest building, The Shard, where it is taking the London dining scene by storm.

HUTONG OPENS IN LONDON
AT THE SHARD

Hutong in London has already this year been awarded a coveted Pagoda Award, London’s equivalent of Michelin Stars for Chinese cuisine and has also won a number of prestigious awards.

These include being named in the National Restaurant Award’s Top 100 list.

THE ULTIMATE GASTRONOMIC JOURNEY
FOR ITS 10TH ANNIVERSARY

To celebrate Hutong’s longevity on its 10th anniversary, the restaurant is offering the ultimate Hutong Gastronomic Journey.

This combines an indulgently luxurious dinner banquet for up to 6 guests at Hutong in both Hong Kong and London, a pre-dinner cocktail experience on the red-sail Chinese junk boat aqua luna, as well as a weekend trip to London with roundtrip Business Class flights.

Two nights at the luxurious new Shangri-La London Hotel at The Shard and limousine transfers are also included.

A ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME
CHINESE CULINARY EXPERIENCE

The Hutong Gastronomic Journey menu offers a once-in-a-lifetime Chinese culinary experience, with luxurious dishes specially crafted by Hutong’s chefs in the restaurant’s unique but occasionally fiery style.

Amongst the 11 dish banquet menu, diners will enjoy two signature 10th anniversary dishes: Russian Oscietra caviar laced asparagus and ‘Kung Po’ style foie gras rolled in gold leaf with cashew nuts and chili.

Fine wines and champagnes such as Château Palmer 1995 and Dom Pérignon Rose Vintage 2002 have been carefully paired with the eleven dishes.

THE HK$100,000 HUTONG DINNER

The 十万shíwanGastronomic Journey is priced at HK$100,000 per person since in Chinese, large numbers are counted in multiples of万wan or 10,000, so 十万shí wanis 100,000.

This would certainly make a wonderful story in a never-ending, and never-endingly eventful Travelife.
