Breakfast onboard Silversea's Silver Shadow, sailing through Indonesia

A Silversea ship at sunset

Good morning from the deck of the Silver Shadow cruise ship of Silversea, my favorite cruise line, as it slowly makes its way from Bali in Indonesia to Singapore in a trip taking just under two weeks.

It's a lazy Sunday and I've just finished a nice big breakfast onboard, in La Terraza, which is the ship's Italian restaurant.

Last few days to get this issue at the bookstore...

MY VERSION OF A DETOX

As you can see from the photograph above, I'm doing a detox with the works: a big plate of fresh fruits, my favorite eggs benedict with smoked salmon, and fresh orange and coconut juices.

It's not quite a detox in the strict sense of the word, but it's my enjoyable version of it.

This means cutting back on meat (save for the juicy steaks served on hot rocks on the swimming pool deck for dinner) and trying to have as many fresh foods as possible.

DETOX AT SEA,
WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM SILVERSEA

As I'm on the Silver Shadow for under two weeks, and I've been trying to do a detox at breakfast every single day.

Thankfully, the ship has everything I need for a detox, and the ship's staff knows what to do.

SO NICE TO SEE EVERYONE AGAIN

Some of the crew remember me from so many cruises ago that it's quite amazing.

I'm really happy to see everyone again, as well.

The other night, someone said to me: "I was on the Silver Spirit when you sailed from Bali to Manila four years ago, and I remember you were ordering cucumber and carrot juice with every meal."

Can you imagine that?

Or writes like us.

A GREAT MEMORY

Some other crew members were onboard this same Silver Shadow as well, when I sailed from Tokyo to Shanghai via Korea and the Chinese coast about two years ago.

They remembered so many things from that cruise.

JUST LIKE COMING HOME

It's so nice to be back onboard a Silversea ship with lots of familiar faces.

It's just like coming home, which is quite a rare thing, in a never-ending, and never-endingly eventful Travelife.
