Jerome's most luscious cronuts are the best in the city

Today, I went across town to have lunch with the executives of Oakwood Joy Nostalg in Ortigas.

I really like this team, so I try to join them for a meal whenever I have time.

Today, there was an extra perk: Chef Jerome of Oakwood Joy Nostalg was launching his croughnut festival, featuring the most delectable savoury and sweet versions of cronut.

THERE GOES THE DIET

I'm not really a cronut fan, actually. But today, I officially became one.

Everything I tried was so creative and so delicious that I practically threw my diet plans out the window and just tasted everything.

For my main course, I ordered the Philly cronut, which is basically shredded beef and cheddar cheese.

I also had a France cronut, which had a very luscious slab of pan-fried foie gras drizzled with balsamic vinegar.

I knew they would be good, but I had not expected to like these cronuts as much as I did.

They were truly delicious.

SWEETS FOR THE SWEET

Then, for dessert, I had the sweet cronuts.

These were just as good as the savoury ones.

So if someone asks me which I prefer -- savoury or sweet -- I would not be able to choose without some dilemma.

The sweet cronuts were at once crispy, flaky and crusty.

TONS OF GOOD THINGS INSIDE

How could that happen?

And in between were all kinds of good things ranging from caramelized apples to thick cream.

Then I added more sin to my dessert cronuts by drizzling chocolate syrup on them.

Double whammy and extra delicious.

A TRULY NEVER-ENDING AND FUN TRAVELIFE

And then, once I got into my car after lunch to head back to Makati, the Travel Companion and I discussed another trip via BBM -- all the way back to the business district.

We'd been talking about another trip for sometime now, somewhere in the world; but there had been a few hiccups. But today, the most important things were sorted out.

By the time I got to the office, we'd finalized the destination and the parameters of the trip and it was up to me to work out the small details -- such as which fabulous hotels to book for our pretty exotic next destination.

In other words, the fun part.

ALL IN A DAY'S WORK

And in between the BBMs, I booked a fancy restaurant in Cape Town (one of the best in the world, actually), a suite by the Indian Ocean, a dinner in Singapore, and a villa in Bali -- all for other trips coming up sooner rather than later.

Talk about a good meal and a good day's work, on just another nice -- or should I say delicious? --afternoon in my never-ending, and never-endingly eventful Travelife.
