Best of a Travelife 2013: A one-week spa trip to the Fusion Maia Resort in Danang, Vietnam

THE WONDERFUL FUSION MAIA RESORT


Earlier this year, I flew to Danang to spend one week at the Fusion Maia Resort, which is currently Vietnam's best wellness resort as well as one of Asia's top destination spas.

It's an all-suite resort with contemporary furnishings and each suite has a private pool.

If you're up for it, I recommend the wonderful two-bedroom villa right by the beach  -- which are the best digs in the resort.

RIGHT ON THE BEACH

The Fusion Maia Resort is right on Danang's public beach. This beach is just wonderful for walking, especially early in the morning and at sunset.

I just loved doing a daily exercise routine at sunset right along the beach, as I had it all to myself.

SPA-ALL-YOU-CAN



One of the best things about the Fusion Maia is the fact that it's a spa-all-you-can resort.

Basically it's a spa buffet, and you can have as many treatments as you can fit in, on a first-come, first-served basis, during your stay.

Whether you get one treatment or four treatments a day, it's just one price.

Talk about a nice deal. It's the equivalent of heaven for a spa-holic.

THE FOOD'S FANTASTIC

The food is really wonderful as well.

We're all used to spa food that tastes like -- well -- spa food.

My breakfast every morning at the Fusion Maia...


The food at Fusion Maia is really fantastic.

It's painless healthy eating.

Grilled lobster with red rice and salad by the beach...


In fact, it's so good that I started dreaming about returning for a second visit, after seeing the photos I'm posting here.

THE SOUPS AND SALADS ARE AMAZING



They're really good with soups.

My favorite was a spicy, cold almond soup with chunks of grilled lobster in it.

I think I had this every single night.




I also loved the salads, especially those with a Vietnamese touch.



There was nothing better at lunch than really fresh greens coupled with a Vietnamese spring roll or two -- before another afternoon of massage and treatments in my never-ending, and never-endingly eventful Travelife.
