Lunch at Alliance Francaise in Manila

On Monday, I had lunch at Alliance Francaise along Reposo Street in Makati.

Few people know that Alliance Francaise actually has a casual restaurant on the premises, and I myself had not been to this restaurant in a very long while.

But on Monday, a friend chose this as the lunch venue and brought out a bottle of bubbly and a terribly good red.

This was very appropriate, if not rather nicely over the top, for a casual French dinner.

When I opened the menu, I was surprised at how reasonable everything was.

Most of the dishes were priced between PhP 200 and Php 600.

Of course, the menu was typical of a French brasserie, with standard favorites like Croque Monsieur, salade nicoise, and steak with French fries.

I ordered the salade nicoise and a grilled chicken fillet.

However, for the longest time -- yes, I take forever to decide on what to eat sometimes -- I couldn't decide whether to order the steak or the coq au vin instead.

But thinking of a big dinner ahead on that same day as well, I decided to go with the healthy option.

The restaurant at Alliance Francaise was full.

Apparently, some renovation has been done to the decor as well. Everything is now in a cheery checkered red, which makes the restaurant look alive.

Meanwhile, the service is very casual. Wait staff are dressed in jeans, with a smock over this.

All in all, a bit of France and a decent lunch at a very decent price for this part of town, living a never-ending, and never-endingly eventful Travelife.
