Manilart 2013 at the new SMX Convention Center, and the gala of Cinderella, the musical, at Resorts World Manila

Tonight, in Manila living a Travelife, I dropped by the opening reception for Manilart 2013 at the new SMX Convention Center in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

What a very convenient location this is for events, and I think it's spanking new.

SM AURA WILL SOON HAVE A CHAPEL

I bumped into Hans Sy, president of SM Prime, at a party a few days ago, and I told him how much I like SM Aura.

I haven't really explored it in full, but their supermarket experience is certainly great. This is where I do all my necessities shopping nowadays.

They have a great vegetable section, as well.

Hans told me: "We're also opening a chapel there soon."

CINDERELLA, THE MUSICAL, AT RESORTS WORLD MANILA

I was attending the gala of the musical Cinderella at Resorts World Manila tonight so I didn't really have much time to spend at Manilart 2013.

But I made sure to go today to say hello to my gallery owner friends and to get first dibs on any artworks that tugged at my heartstrings.

I especially like to buy works of young and relatively unknown artists just because it's nice to help them with their careers.

Besides, these are usually great works at very good prices.

NOTHING SO FAR, BUT I SHALL RETURN

There were lots of nice pieces but today was just a quick look-through.

Perhaps I will go back again before the events ends.

WHAT AN ENJOYABLE MUSICAL

Then off I was to attend the gala of Cinderella, which formally opens to the public tomorrow.

What an unlikely combination this was tonight -- to start off with the opening of Manilart 2013 and to end with the opening of Cinderella.

Tonight, the Cinderella gala was full of the society crowd, with lots of fashionable mothers with happy little daughters in tow.

I spotted the always chic Vanessa Ledesma with the charming Baby Fortune, who so takes after her powerhouse of a grandmother, Consul Fortune Ledesma of Monaco.

VERY GOOD TECHNICALS FOR CINDERELLA, THE MUSICAL

Cinderella itself was very enjoyable.

I didn't expect to like it as much as I actually did.

The sets done by a South African designer, were just amazing, in an ornate and yet modern and minimalist way.

I also thought the casting was excellent, the pacing quick enough, and the whole experience simply enjoyable -- even for adults.

I'll write more about this tomorrow.

But if you have little girls in the family, this is certainly one musical you shouldn't miss.

OPEN FROM TOMORROW, OCT 10

Cinderella at Resorts World Manila opens to the public tomorrow. Proper review coming soon.

Good night, after just another eventful day in my never-ending, and never-endingly eventful Travelife.
