MY FAVORITE PURCHASE

One of my favorite purchases was a jar of face cream intended for use as a mask, which I picked up at the Spa Ceylon boutique.

The Spa Ceylon brand is the most upscale beauty brand on the island.

It's not hard-core ayurveda the way some lesser known brands are, but more ayurveda-inspired -- meaning they use ayurveda ingredients in more or less conventional products.

SPA CEYLON HAS BEAUTIFUL PACKAGING

But the quality is very good and the packaging is beautiful.

Whenever I go into a Spa Ceylon store in Colombo, I always end up buying way more than what is good for my lugagge allocation.

Think heavy bottles and jars -- and multiply that by a couple of dozen.

A JAR OF HEAVEN

Anyway, at the start of my most recent trip, I bought a jar of white tuberose mask under the top-end White line at a Spa Ceylon store in the historic town of Galle -- just because I was looking for a mask to use during my trip.

I opened it back at my hotel room, and it was pure heaven.

THE MOST WONDERFUL SCENT

The smell of tuberose was unlike anything I had ever experienced before -- and even this smell along was therapeutic on my sense of well-being.

I googled "tuberose" afterwards and it turns out that the ancients once used this as an aphrodisiac.

That's really believable as the smell just makes you feel very good.

It's a wonder no one has used tuberose in a perfume.

Or maybe they have, but I just don't know about it.

But the next time I visit one of my favorite garage perfumers in Paris, I'm going to ask them about making something with the essence of tuberose.

PERFECT FOR A TRAVELIFE

The mask itself has all kinds of natural ingredients which are supposed to keep your skin smooth and clear.

You're supposed to leave it on for only ten minutes, and not let the mask dry on your face.

But I just couldn't resist keeping it on for longer than needed -- just because the smell was so wonderful.

I just love using this mask especially after a long flight -- and especially on those trips where I have to go straight from the airplane to a dinner or a party.

It's really perfect for a never-ending, and never-endingly eventful Travelife.
