US Ambassador Harry Thomas hosts a party for some visitors from Utah, and The Plaza's delicious angus corned beef with horseradish sauce

Last night, at the residence of US Ambassador Harry Thomas, living a Travelife...
Last night, in Manila living a Travelife, I attended a party hosted by US Ambassador Harry Thomas at his beautiful home in North Forbes Park in honor of some visitors from the State of Utah.

Ambassador Thomas' home is perfect for entertaining, by the way, as it's spread out over several "buildings" with a very large open space in between.

The first thing Ambassador Thomas asked me, when I saw him last night, was: "How was Sri Lanka?"

Apparently he'd bumped into a common friend of ours, one of the Travelife Sri Lanka July 2013 group, last night at a restaurant.

They'd talked about the Travelife trip to Sri Lanka since we'd all just returned back to Manila on the red-eye from Colombo over the weekend, on Saturday night.

In Sri Lanka last week, living a Travelife...

Ambassador Thomas must think all I do is go back-and-forth between Manila and Colombo.

On our Travelife to Sri Lanka last February, you see, his dentist had joined us. And on this July Travelife to Sri Lanka, he knew at least five people in the group -- plus myself.

After that first Travelife to Sri Lanka in February, I saw Ambassador Thomas again at a sit-down dinner somewhere shortly after I returned.

At that dinner, he'd said to me: "I know all about your Sri Lanka trip. My dentist joined your trip and afterwards she talked about nothing else but the Travelife trip to Sri Lanka while I was in the chair. I had no choice but to listen to her."

He was smiling as he said this, of course.

So last night, I teasingly said: "Ambassador Thomas, so many of your friends are joining us on a Travelife to Sri Lanka. Maybe you should join us on the next one..."

Then I went in to the ambassador's dining room to get something to eat.

The Plaza was catering and they had their famous angus corned beef in one corner.

I took just a little bit, for some reason, and then went to sit in the living room.

I regretted taking only a few slices all night afterwards.

The Plaza's angus corned beef is so good, especially with the horseradish sauce. When I went back to get some more very late in the game, everything was gone.

But there's icing on the cake to this story.

In Ambassador Thomas' living room, a copy of the latest issue of Travelife Magazine, the leading travel & lifestyle publication, was displayed ever so prominently. That certainly made my day, and I just had to take a photo of it.

Talk about a nice end to another day in my never-ending, and never-endingly eventful Travelife.
