Breakfast in Sri Lanka's most beautiful hotel, and dinner tonight with Sri Lanka's most famous singer.

Good morning from the most beautiful hotel in Sri Lanka, having curry for breakfast and living a Travelife.

I've been here for three days now and I am so reluctant to leave. Talk about a fantastic Travelife way to get some downtime and simply get away from it all.

A SURREAL DINNER IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE

Last night, my friends and I had dinner at our hotel, by candlelight, and with flower petals strewn all over the table.

I'd been sitting by the Indian Ocean until about an hour before, at another beautiful hotel with a great spa, getting the wind to dry my hair after an ayurveda treatment, and listening to some music on my iPod until darkness set in.

It was a pretty amazing feeling, actually, to have the waves crashing in front of me, and to be sitting on a lounge chair listening to Al Jarreau's "Gimme What You Got."

This is my current favorite old song of the moment.

IN LOVE WITH SRI LANKAN DESIGN

Then I headed back to my hotel, just in time, as my friends had just checked in 30 minutes before.

We had beet salad and grilled prawns for dinner and it was such a perfect evening that we lingered till close to midnight, enjoying having the place to ourselves.

We all agreed it was quite surreal, to have all this luxury and fine service in as middle of nowhere as we could get in this part of the world.

But that's a Travelife for you. And just wait until I start blogging about my trip to Tanzania in just a few months' time. Now that's going to be truly surreal...

We're all officially in love with Sri Lankan design now, by the way.

A BEACH HOUSE TO LOOK LIKE THIS...

One of them is building a massive beach house somewhere, and now he wants it to look like this hotel we're staying in.

Even I'm inspired to think about creating something like this one day -- although I'm sure I'll wake up one morning realizing the headaches of managing a property.

So much better to fly here and rent this whole place out for a week, living a Travelife.

HEADING BACK TO COLOMBO

This morning, I'm taking my friends around Galle and then we're heading back towards Colombo to meet up with 20 other people, stopping along the coast to see some Geoffrey Bawa landmarks.

But we're taking separate cars, though, as I'm dropping by a friend's house in the outskirts of Colombo tonight.

SRI LANKA'S MOST FAMOUS SINGER

Deepika Priyadarshani is Sri Lanka's most famous singer, and there's not a single Sri Lankan who doesn't know her name, or who can't sing her most popular songs by heart.

She sang a song about the reunification of Sri Lanka, after the civil war ended in 2009, and it became a sort of national anthem of Sri Lanka that still moves many people to tears when they hear it.

Anyway, she's just moved into a beautiful new house and she's dying to show it to me. Of course, I'm dying to see it as well, since I love seeing beautiful interiors. I'm having dinner at her house tonight.

And that's how today's going so far, in my never-ending, and never-endingly eventful Travelife.
