It seemed terribly interesting, as well as a pretty good deal.

A PRETTY GOOD DEAL
For PhP 1800++, you get to try each of the Intercontinental Manila's restaurants.
Basically you get your appetizer at the Gambrinus Bar, your main course at the Prince Albert Rotisserie, and dessert at the Jeepney Bar.
This isn't exactly cheap.
But if you're looking for a treat -- or a bargain, actually -- this is pretty good, as the total value of these three courses put together is way over what the Intercontinental Manila is charging for this promotion.
THE HIGHLIGHT OF DINNER
The piece de resistance for me, of course, was the prime rib at the Prince Albert; but it seemed fun to try the whole promotion out anyway so we decided to go through the entire routine.
So we met up at Gambrinus for a glass of wine and a really delicious smoked salmon appetizer.
Then, after the appetizer, we simply walked a few meters to the Prince Albert.
THE ULTIMATE FIRST DATE PLACE
I hadn't been here in a long time, so it was very nice to come here again for their iconic prime rib.
The Prince Albert Rotisserie is one of Manila's fine dining institutions, and it's been around for as long as I can remember.
And when you do go to Prince Albert, you really must have the prime rib as this is what the Prince Albert experience is all about.

"This used to be where college guys took their dates when they really wanted to impress them," I said to my friend.
Yup. In my time, if a guy took you out to Prince Albert for dinner, you could pretty much assume that he either liked you a lot or he wanted to impress you a lot.
Someone I know took a girl out to dinner on a first date here with all the works, including the very expensive bottle of champagne; and they've been happily married for a long time now.
NOTHING MUCH HAS CHANGED
Obviously, things haven't changed much either.
All around us were couples who looked like they were on getting-to-know-you dates.
The first dates -- or what I call the getting-to-know-you dates -- are easy to spot because both parties are acting pretty formally and talking in a certain way. They also almost never look at their mobile phones or text someone else during dinner.
In other words, they're completely focused on the other person.
AFTER A COUPLE OF DATES...
When they're more comfortable with each other, couples do stuff like order for each other and share food over the table. The texting and taking photos of food with mobile cameras start happening too. It's a totally different dynamics.
So, on that night at the Prince Albert, it was mostly couples on getting-to-know-you dates.
So it looks like nothing much has changed since my college days.
THE PRIME RIB'S STILL AS GOOD AS EVER...
Another thing that hasn't changed since my college days is the prime rib at Prince Albert.
It's still juicy and tender, and incredibly good. And for PhP 1800++, this dinner is a steal as that's just about what you would normally pay for the prime rib alone.
Which means that everything else is being thrown in by the hotel for free, including the appetizer at Gambrinus and the dessert buffet at Jeepney Bar.
On this Resto-Go-Round promotion, this is what you get:
US Aberdeen Angus Prime Rib
with Yorkshire pudding, baked potatoes and garden vegetables
Prince Albert Rotisserie
You get really special service on this promotion, too.
The guys at Prince Albert will personally escort you to the Jeepney Bar for your dessert.
And if you think that sounds like a really good deal, I can assure you that it most certainly is. Take advantage. The promotion is only up to June 30.
Available from Thursdays to Sundays until June 30
