A pleasant flight on Dragonair between Danang and Hong Kong

Today, across Southeast Asian air space, living a Travelife, I had a nice and easy flight on Dragonair from Danang to Hong Kong.

I landed just in time to connect with the Cathay Pacific flight to Manila, and straight to an opening reception for an art exhibit featuring works by the wives of the Ambassadors of Russia and Austria, and Madame Kumiko Kuroda, wife of Haruhiko Kuroda, the new Central Bank Governor of Japan.

The Dragonair plane was no-frills but it wasn't one of these cramped budget airline models.

There is no business class on the Hong Kong - Danang route (at least not yet) but economy class on this route is certainly something I can live with.

NO CLAUSTROPHOBIA HERE

The seats aren't claustrophobic, for one thing.

I didn't feel like they were trying to pack people in like sardines just because the price points are cheaper.

VERY DECENT MEALS

The meals were pretty good.

There were two choices for breakfast: eggs and sausages or dim sum. I chose the dim sum, and I've taken a photo here.

What can I say? I ate everything. Don't expect fancy dining or five-star service, of course, and this is why the price point is lower. But this tray of food is much better than a lot of food on short flights on pricier airlines.

My 2nd breakfast today on board Dragonair...

A GREAT CREW

The crew were very nice as well.

They smiled a lot, and nothing was too much trouble for them -- the way things are in regular business class.

CLEAN BATHROOMS

Finally, the bathroom at the front of the plane was very clean.

I'm a real stickler for this, and this is probably the second main reason I would pay up for business class every time. The first reason is the space and privacy, of course.

PAINLESS AND PLEASANT

Seat spaces aren't bad at all, for Hong Kong - Danang - Hong Kong...

There's no entertainment system on this flight so don't expect video on demand.

But it's not that bad. I brought two magazines with me, including the latest copy of Travelife Magazine, and the flight was over before I could even finish reading these.

So it was such a pleasant and painless flight on Dragonair to and from Danang and Hong Kong.

It's still a very new flight so the planes are not full -- and I'm sure this is also why I feel very okay with them. But for a stickler like me, Dragonair's economy class sure passes the test for a 90-minute flight.

Of course, if they had business class, I would always prefer this. But economy class Hong Kong-Danang-Hong Kong on Dragonair is very comfortable and do-able.

I so love this part of Vietnam and I would so do this trip again.

I have a shortlist of travel companions for my never-endingly eventful Travelife trips.

If you're on my traveling companion list and you want to join me for a 2nd never-endingly eventful Travelife to Danang, you know what to do....let's go.
