A fantastic beach right in front of the groundbreaking Fusion Maia Resort in Danang, Vietnam

Yesterday, at around 530 PM, in Danang, Vietnam, living a never-endingly eventful Travelife, I took my usual walk by the beach.

I love Danang beach as it's white sand, clean and relatively empty of people -- as of now.

A PRETTY FANTASTIC PUBLIC BEACH

I'm used to beaches like this on a private island or in a resort with its own private cove that shuts out all the beach traffic.

But this is a public beach that's so near the city that I can see the city bridges in the distance when I walk the shore.

For a public beach in Vietnam's 3rd largest city, this is pretty amazing. And I love it.

SO EASY TO KEEP HEALTHY HERE

If this beach was just near my home, I think I'd hit the sand everyday at sunset and become a fitness buff just because it's so easy to become one with such great infrastructure by way of a long stretch of beautiful shoreline.

The other amazing thing is this destination spa I've just spent a week in, living a Travelife and trying to get de-stressed and to jumpstart a health regimen.

I'm also hoping to lose a few calories in the process. Haven't weighed myself yet; but, one thing's for sure: I certainly feel way healthier than when I first arrived.

UNPRETENTIOUS LUXURY
AT THE FUSION MAIA RESORT

I'm completely at home here at the groundbreaking Fusion Maia Resort, which is Vietnam's first real destination spa and also one of the most talked-about wellness places right now.

It's won lots of awards, and been hailed as one of Vietnam's best destination resorts, aside from being one of Asia's best destination spas.

It's considered Vietnam's most chic five-star resort, although it's very relaxed and contemporary. It's not the sort of place where you have to worry about your wardrobe when you're going for breakfast.

But, of course, you can look as chic as you want, as the surroundings are pretty cool, with a color scheme of brown and lavender. So easy on the eyes.

It's luxurious but really simple and unpretentious. And the food's fantastic.

NO CARBS
AND THE BEST TERIYAKI SALMON EVER

At the Fusion Maia, I've cut out all the carbs and I've been having salads, soups and seafood for lunch and dinner.

And my usual juices for breakfast, of course.

Plus a really delicious grilled teriyaki salmon with a heap of greens to add in the morning.

This was one of my favorites:
chilled almond soup with lashings of olive oil and lots of garlic. Yum.

I don't usually have grilled fish at breakfast.

Ask any of my travel companions and friends, but my usual breakfast on a trip is likely to consist of an entire tray of colorful juices, regardless of where I am in the world.

But here at the Fusion Maia, I discovered that they make the best grilled teriyaki salmon ever.

I had it on my second day, and I haven't looked back since. So it's been juices and salmon everyday for breakfast, and soups, salads and a fantastic ceviche for dinner.

NO KIDDING.
THE FOOD'S HEALTHY AND IT'S SO GOOD.

I can't over-compliment the salads, soups and seafood either.

Everything has been way too delicious for my own good, including the soups.

In fact, the soups have been so good that I sometimes order three different kinds plus salad on the side for dinner.

The best part is that I don't even feel like I'm dieting at all.

I'm eating wonderful food and I'm so full with each meal that snacking doesn't even come to mind, even if I haven't seen rice, pasta or bread in almost a week now.

I'm getting to be a big Vietnam fan, and the Fusion Maia is just right for a wellness recharge.

They have one of the most innovative wellness spa packages I've seen so far -- and you'll read more about this in the upcoming issue of Travelife Magazine. On sale everywhere from June 15.

It's a great resort for couples, friends, or a group of girlfriends wanting a treat for themselves.

And it's even family-friendly as well.

I'm not here alone, and so far I haven't seen anyone eating by themselves the way so many guests do at other wellness destinations like Chiva Som in Thailand.

But I certainly wouldn't have any qualms about coming here for a second visit by myself, in between my never-endingly eventful Travelife.

Dragonair flies directly to Danang from Hong Kong
Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays

It's only 90 minutes away from Hong Kong by Dragonair.

The flight was just launched, which is why Danang is still so under-the-radar unless you're an expatriate flying in from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh.

Or someone like me, on a never-ending, and never-endingly eventful Travelife.
