Last Thursday was my third one-on-one session with Brenda Lim of UP Pilates in Makati.
I have a goal over six months to really get in shape, and I booked a series of private sessions with her, for whenever I'm not on a Travelife.
That's not too often, but I figured it's better than doing absolutely nothing at all.

I should've done this ages ago.
But then again, there's a right time for everything in a never-ending Travelife; and perhaps now is just the perfect time for me, in many ways.
Pilates is great mind-and-body conditioning, particularly for someone like me who is doing and thinking about a dozen things at any one time.
When you're really stressed or even just plain busy, it's such a relief to be able to spend one hour doing nothing else -- and thinking nothing else -- but about your body movement and breathing.
Fletcher Pilates, which is the type of Pilates Brenda teaches, is very big on coordinating body movement and breathing.
ALMOST LIKE MEDITATION.
AND THE PROS OF GOING SOLO.
The breathing part is especially relaxing. It's almost like meditation -- especially for someone like me who doesn't do much of it.
During last Thursday's session, too, I was also going over in my mind the merits of a one-on-one session vs. the group session or joining a class.
There's the cost factor, of course, as private lessons are more expensive than a class.
But what a difference a private lesson makes.

First, you have the entire studio to yourself. And Brenda has a really nice, complete and relaxing studio.
Second, your session is incredibly personalized. Brenda will tailor everything to your needs, objectives and condition. You can go at your own pace and not have to wait or rush.
I'm surrounded by people all day, so my Pilates sessions become part of my "Me Time" in a never-ending, and never-endingly eventful Travelife.
